JPDIPSO (4189), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Apr 2, 2008 Lightly hazed amber/copper color with a moderate tight bubbled cream colored head. Heavy caramel aromas with hints of dried leaves, light currants, raw sugar and maple sap. SOmewhat rustic in scent. A balance of dry caramel, herbal tea in the flavors. Toffee and hints of ripe fruit also present. Finish and linger are quite bitter and lasting. Has a real traditional "feel" to it. It’s good to see this brewery back on track. My last visit a few years ago was most depressing. Skyview (2657), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 9, 2007 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from the brewpub in Marinette, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-hazy caramel amber brew with a thin off-white head that dissolves to a thin ring and island film. Lacing is spotty that quickly disappears. Aroma of caramel malt, sweet apples and pears, with a touch of brown sugar. Taste is lightly sweet, carbonated with flavors of caramel and toffee. Finish is slightly bitter with a lingering dry aftertaste. Not the original recipe that Menomonee/Marinette Brewing Co. (1933-1960) and Oconto Brewing Company (1961-1965) produced, but I’m happy to see Rail House resurrect another historical beer brand for the next generation of beer drinkers.
