By far one of the best domestic brown ales. Nice roasted pecan/almond/peanut kind of thing going on here, though subtle. Lovely clear caramel color with traces of caramel sweetness, but again, surprisingly subtle. Let it grow on you. Worth repeating.

Ka-Bar is a good brown ale. Poured with a minimal head, but it soon laced on the edge. Malty aroma, not too strong. Color was a ruby-brown, very nice. Taste was malty and nutty, with a great aftertaste. Very soft and mild in the mouth. I will be drinking a lot more of these!

Bottle. Shared by Whitney and a rep for the brewery. Nose is light sour malt, lightly nutty, brown sugar, semisweet cocoa. Flavor is similar. Lightly bittersweet finish.

3.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A nice brown ale, roasty and malty. Not much hop presence that I distinguished, but that's not a negative point. The aroma was actually the highlight for me, strong and flavorful. Appearance was very dark brown, not much head but good lacing. A bit too light-bodied, but still enjoyable. Seems like it may be a good food-pairing beer.

Pours a deep amber brown with a murky quality and ruby tint. One or two fingers of light tan head. Nose shows a nice round malt sweetness and subtle earthy, toasty, and grainy notes. Flavor has a touch of minerality and acidity to it. Malt character is a touch dusty with notes of cacao. Light acidity/carbonation.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
First off, I most likely had a bad/old bottle. The label was just "Brown Ale" not the current "Ka-Bar Brown Ale" designator. Thus the slight sourness was likely abnormal.
Malty aromas with notes of dark bread, brown sugar, and a touch of smoke. Deep, deep brown (bordering on black) with no head. Some of the malt characteristics, with a slight sourness akin to a Flander’s Brown ale. Medium to medium light in body with a slightly tart finish.
