Pours opaque black with zero light transfer. Thin tan head, little retention and no lacing. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, malts and faint vanilla and smoke. Flavour is predominantly cocoa, espresso, burnt sugar, and subtle vanilla. Lingers molasses and some ash. Medium body and lively carbonation helps to mask the warming alcohol finish. Excellent Stout, will have to revisit this one.

As black ink stain as I have ever seen a stout, with a thick, bubbly mocha head. Easily one of the best looking stouts I have ever seen. Aromas are some very dark chocolate and some chocolate milk but I ding it for some underlying dryer lint smell. It’s a rich and creamy mouthfeel that leads to a very creamy chocolate milk taste with a dark cacao finish. A very nice and drinkable stout, but not quite up to the World Class ones that I have had the pleasure to enjoy.

473ml can from the LCBO. Opaque black body with a thin creamy tan head, A lot of baker’s chocolate/ cocoa on the nose. Some earthy decaying leaves note. Roasted barley and some subtle vanilla as well. Not that dry on the palate, but not sweet either, quite balanced. Medium-bodied.

473 ml can. Black pour, brown highlights, finger of brown foamy head that has some decent retention. Aroma is very much roasted malt. Taste adds some smoke to it, fairly sweet. Quite a heavy body.

Can from the LCBO. Deep black with burgundy highlights under a dense dark khaki head that fades slowly. Nose is prominent dark chocolate and roast with some plum backing. Light toffee sweetness supports bitter chocolate with some smoke appearing. Medium thin body with average carbonation and a dry finish. NIce, if a bit thin.

473 ml can. Black body, chocolate dense head with average retention. Aroma of roasted malts, milk chocolate, herbs, vanilla. Taste of chocolate liquor, toast, condensed milk, ash, a tad metallic. Mild and on the sweet side.

The darkest stout I have had personaly. Coffee. Dark chocolate and expresso are dominant flavour. Great roast notes and black as oil

On tap at Union 613. Roasty aroma with some red fruit and faint smoke. Opaque black with hazy brown highlights under a persistent, light brown cover. Flavour is probably the roastiest beer I’ve ever tasted, with a pervading black grain astringency. Accents of red fruit. Medium body, slightly tangy, moderate carbonation.

Can from LCBO. Great rich chocolate roasty grainy aroma, with some vanilla. Pleasant roasty taste with some chocolate. Not as rich as the aroma, but good.

473 ml can. Stout brown. Light brown head is thin but laces nicely. Roast and semi-sweet chocolate in the nose. Taste is a little thin and sweet. The roast from the nose is barely present in the mouth.
