Half pint at the Loon. Deep brown black with a small mocha head. Reasonable chocolate, lightly smokey, cold and tight, a touch of tang, decent. Medium body and moderate carbonation, a little thin. Decent coffee and chocolate a touch smokey, a little molasses, fairly stern, not awesome; dry with a weak finish. Meh.

Very solid stout. Pours inky, velvet black with a small beige head. Aroma is big, rich roasted malts, light coffee. Taste is again big roasted malts, some smoke and coffee. Nice velvet mouthfeel and great for a 6% beer.

Brown head, jet black beer. What I smell I also taste: Chocolate(pudding).roastedness, bitterness, a little burnt wood. I also taste a little water and a little sourness. A little heavy but mostly medium bodied. So so stout but looks great.

Pour is motor oil black without much in the way of head. Nose is chocolate, coffee, roasted grain. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly watery, roasted grain and chocolate, with lingering coffee and chocolate on a moderately dry finish. Decent but unremarkable.

I am not a stout person, but this is a great beer. Not overwhelming sweet at all, just the right balance of hops, it had aroma of oats and coffee. Not overly carbonated and lively, which plays in its favor along such thick body and rich taste. Its head is brownish and short living, leaving you wanting more.

Comes in their Holiday Gift Pack for Christmas 2014 (with 2 other cans of different beer and a glass). Almost black coloured with no highlights. The head is pretty creamy, quite brown, long lasting and laces up the glass. Roasted malt aromas with sweet yeast, notes of chocolate and coffee. The taste starts off with this sweetness, then the burnt malts appear to finish with a little bitterness. Hints of coffee, chocolate and the malt lingers. A nice looking stout that starts off nicely, but gets a little too sweet to enjoy more.

Can from the brewery. Incredibly black pour, with a big dark brown head. A solid roasty, cocoa nose, with some coffee, and chalkiness. Creamy, soft mouth feel, with a medium carb. Sweet cocoa, very roasty finish. Lingering notes of coffee, and more chalkiness.

473 mL bottle. Pours thick and black with a dense head of khaki. Aromas of coffee, cocoa, roast, some moderate earthy/spicy hopping. Taste is quite dry, reasonably bittered and finishes heavy on the roast. Moderate body and above average carbonation. Nothing flawed, nothing memorable.

Pours blacker than coal. Oops. That was a lazy metaphor. But not as dull as the review below mine. Yawn. Sampled at Tall Boys carnival mini beer fest hipster happening. A decent stout that I enjoyed more than their other offerings.

The St. Thomas, Ont. brewery has produced a six-per-cent alcohol stout that has a 43 IBU rating on the bitterness scale. Itís black and has a coffee aroma, while coffee, dark chocolate, smoke and oatmeal are the prime components of the flavour profile. Itís okay, but nothing exceptional.
