A full bodied golden Pale Ale which pours with a linen white medium density head leaving spider web lace on the glass. On the palate the flavour is sweet fruity malts up front (apricot, mango) with a bit of candy, and slight grassy notes which fall away to reveal a hint of biscuit with rather pleasant grapefruit and perfume undertones. This is a hop bomb, there is no doubt. To the nose there is a mild malt aroma which accentuates the robust floral bouquet which is derived from the hops.

Medium full bodied ale with pleasant lingering hop finish.

6.8 % alcohol by volume, IBU’s 46.6

Food Pairings: Burgers, Chilli, Chorizo, Crispy/Spicy Duck, Spicy Indian dishes

The brewer’s description says this is a hop bomb. Hoppy yes, hop bomb no. Golden-amber colour with a slight haziness from minuscule particles floating around (says "Not pasteurized" and to "keep refrigerated"). Its head is huge, off-white, frothy and foamy with great retention and a bit of lace. The hop is felt in the aromas with notes of caramel malt and a little alcohol warmth. Smooth oily mouthfeel with a small amount of dryness in the finish. Grapefruit citrus taste, pine and fruity malts complete the taste. Fresh apples come out in the aftertaste. Pretty good brew overall and more hoppy than most macros. Just not a hop bomb (at 47 IBU).

From my dear brother: Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is of fruitiness (mellow citrus mostly) and hoppiness. Beer is fairly hoppy (not quite hop slaughter, but it got the inclination of going in that direction). Fairly well-balanced as well. A little bit of sweetness rings through as well. This is a fairly standard IPA, but a very drinkable one at that.

Strong ale. Very sharp hops. Definitely good for a nice strong winter beer.

Amber to yellow in colour, slightly hazy, little carbonation and only the faintest touch of lace. smells like corn syrup to me, high alcohol, some resinous hops and a slight note of diacetyl. more of the same on the palate with the alcohol being out of balance with the hops and little to no malts.thin brew and i was surprised to see this called an IPA.

Aroma of tangerine pineapple, pine and touch of malty sweetness. Hazy orange with a nice white head and ok lacing. Taste very malty with very little hop /bitterness to back it up. Bit of caramel and some fruity notes. Medium body fine carb. Not a hop bomb in the slightest. An average Ontario offering.

I’m an afficionado of stouts and porters. I don’t care for ales because of the sweetness, but this is the first exception. Despite the retarded and sickening name which put me off completely, I was attracted to the pretty gold colour, like some of my fave whiskies or liqueurs ( but we are not pretentious snobs so who cares about looks really?) What initially sucked me in was the unusual vanilla presence in the grapefruit bouquet. Furthermore I was surprised by the full bodied taste of this feisty 6.5% beer. Couldn’t believe such a gem came out of Ontario. Neat!

UPDATED: APR 29, 2011 Draught sample at the Toronto Food and Wine show. Golden pour, with a decent white head, minimal lacing. Tastes of hops and a small amount of grain.
