COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full bodied golden Pale Ale which pours with a linen white medium density head leaving spider web lace on the glass. On the palate the flavour is sweet fruity malts up front (apricot, mango) with a bit of candy, and slight grassy notes which fall away to reveal a hint of biscuit with rather pleasant grapefruit and perfume undertones. This is a hop bomb, there is no doubt. To the nose there is a mild malt aroma which accentuates the robust floral bouquet which is derived from the hops.

Medium full bodied ale with pleasant lingering hop finish.

6.8 % alcohol by volume, IBUís 46.6

Food Pairings: Burgers, Chilli, Chorizo, Crispy/Spicy Duck, Spicy Indian dishes

St Thomas is the land of the Dead Elephant and St Catherines is the land of the Albino Rhino. I had lived in London for many years and never had a chance to see the monument to the dead elephant. While visiting friends this time, I had a chance to drive down to the Railway City, take a picture with Jumbo and get a can of Dead Elephant. For an IPA, it had a surprisingly sweet, un-hopped aroma, staying around biscuits and honey. The colour is dark gold, very translucent, with no turbidity, and a reasonable white head. A cascade of bubbles keeps rising from the bottom. Flavours are basically sweet, malty, with biscuits, karamel, honey and dried, sweet apricot. But it is balanced with a nice amount of bitterness that makes itself evident on the finish. The bitterness is grassy, with a touch of grapefruit, but not enough fruitiness in this hoppy touch to my taste. Palate was buttery, sticky, greasy, quite striking and unexpected but it gives a nice touch up to this beer. Not really a hop bomb, but I enjoyed the dead elephant. I guess Americans would call this an ESB, but this is Canada, and one should not be surprised with a more faithful take (although not too precise) on the historical IPA. At the end of that same day I did drive through Saint Catherines, but never had a chance to meet & greet the Rhino.

Blonde dorée. Nez: malté. Fruit confit. Caramel. Houblon résineux. Bouche: belle amertume. Fruité. Agrume (surtout l'orange). Biscuit. Florale. Malté. Résine. Elle a l'allure d'une double ipa sans la chaleur d'alcool. Très bien.

Poured from can. Medium golden colour with medium size head with long lasting lacing. Floral aroma, maybe caramel. Medium bitterness, with average malt. Quite good.

Pours a clear golden with a big off white head. Aroma is bready and a little hoppy. Flavour is slightly bitter with malty notes. Not really complex. Body is a little on the thin side. Finish is definitely bitter in a not nice way, from too much high alpha acid hops.

Poured from a cold can. Light orange color, medium head, nice lacing. Typical floral and hops smell. good blend between hops, taste and drink ability. Refreshing IPA.

500ml can. These arenít the hops Iím used to from my IPAs -- much earthier, muskier, meatier. Lower on bitterness and punch.

550ml glass from draught tap. Pleasant light malty & hoppy aroma. Initial nice fruity taste, but the aftertaste was hoppy in the wrong way. Kind of reminded me of silage, so struggled to like it.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2014 Not as strong as many other craft beer IPAís out there which can be either a bad or good thing depending how you like your IPAís. Anyways overall a decent beer.

Hop bomb is right. This was a but overwhelming. 473 mL can from the LCBO. Hoppy aroma with some citrus. On the tongue a lot of hops with a long bitter finish. Wouldn't order again, but appreciate the effort the brewmasters went to. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can at home, 30th June 2013, with first BBQ of 2013. Nice IPA, fairly typical US style, good smooth and well balanced, liked it, although the Founders Centinnial, I had after showed off much more quality
