COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full bodied golden Pale Ale which pours with a linen white medium density head leaving spider web lace on the glass. On the palate the flavour is sweet fruity malts up front (apricot, mango) with a bit of candy, and slight grassy notes which fall away to reveal a hint of biscuit with rather pleasant grapefruit and perfume undertones. This is a hop bomb, there is no doubt. To the nose there is a mild malt aroma which accentuates the robust floral bouquet which is derived from the hops.

Medium full bodied ale with pleasant lingering hop finish.

6.8 % alcohol by volume, IBU’s 46.6

Food Pairings: Burgers, Chilli, Chorizo, Crispy/Spicy Duck, Spicy Indian dishes

Can 6.5%. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is minimal, some lemon and a little biscuity malt. Light to medium body, medium carbonation, thin. Grass, lemon, some metal astringency and a not particularly pleasant aftertaste. poor.

Can from the LCBO. Clear light amber pour with smallish white head that fades quickly without much lace. Nose is pine and grass with toffee. Light sweet caramel start with bitterness appearing as grapefruit in the middle and some sweet fruit bringing up the rear. Mouth is medium sticky with average carbonation. Decent IPA.

Gold coloured brew with medium sized head with large bubbles. Not a lot of aroma. Mainly citrus hop flavour. Medium body. OK, not the best, but far from the worst IPA I have tasted.

Pours a clear copper colour, with a beige head that fades fast. Aroma notes include tangy citrus notes, malty notes, and pine. Tasting notes include soft citrus notes of mango, and grapefruit, the palate is slick and finishes with a light bitterness. A decent entry level IPA, nothing that will engage a serious hop head though!

Tall can. Pours clear amber, white head. Nose is heavy on the crystal malt, with citrus hops in the background. Flavour is again mostly crystal malt with some floral, mineral water. Vegetal. Not an IPA.

This is solid, drinkable, mildly hoppy IPA. Better on tap if you can find it. Decent beer, decent story, nice guys at the brewery.

St Thomas is the land of the Dead Elephant and St Catherines is the land of the Albino Rhino. I had lived in London for many years and never had a chance to see the monument to the dead elephant. While visiting friends this time, I had a chance to drive down to the Railway City, take a picture with Jumbo and get a can of Dead Elephant. For an IPA, it had a surprisingly sweet, un-hopped aroma, staying around biscuits and honey. The colour is dark gold, very translucent, with no turbidity, and a reasonable white head. A cascade of bubbles keeps rising from the bottom. Flavours are basically sweet, malty, with biscuits, karamel, honey and dried, sweet apricot. But it is balanced with a nice amount of bitterness that makes itself evident on the finish. The bitterness is grassy, with a touch of grapefruit, but not enough fruitiness in this hoppy touch to my taste. Palate was buttery, sticky, greasy, quite striking and unexpected but it gives a nice touch up to this beer. Not really a hop bomb, but I enjoyed the dead elephant. I guess Americans would call this an ESB, but this is Canada, and one should not be surprised with a more faithful take (although not too precise) on the historical IPA. At the end of that same day I did drive through Saint Catherines, but never had a chance to meet & greet the Rhino.
