A blend of pale optic and chocolate malt giving that rich amber colour producing a taste with malty overones. The smooth hoppy characteristic is produced by the use of Goldings hops.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.
Dark amber with a thin white head. Caramel and fruit aroma with a slight buttery note. Odd caramel and crème brûlée flavour with a little more diacetyl. Harsh wheaty notes. Liquorice and malt finish. Next.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Attractive amber colour with lasting dark beigehead. Slightly coffee caramel aroma and flavour. Good nick. Fullish in mouth with raisins/sultana fruit mixing with fullish malts and slight creamy coffee to give a fruit cake feel. Very good deep full bitter. Decent hoppy sting on finish. Not really my style, but I still give it a good score for the flavour.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2009 Cask (St. Urho’s, Helsinki)
Light reddy brown, loose head. Dry dusty hoppy aroma. Slightly over-ripe fruity aroma, almost pungent. Thick mashy grainy taste, also sweet and fruity. Soft palate. Overall quite pleasant, but nothing excels.
Had a less good one at HBF2009 - but it was stored too warm, and had turned farty and dull.

Cask at the sir edward wyle. Aroma is minimal, bitter peppery hops an slightly richer malts. Taste is similar, a standard bitter pritty unexciting if drinkable enough.

Dark brown colored with little yellow head. Licorice and mild spices in fruity aroma, rich one. Thin to medium bodied. Dry flavor with lemon and some licorice too, aftertaste has thin spices still. Weird but good one.
