COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Den Dorstige Tijger is an India Pale Ale. An IPA is a traditionally heavily hopped beer. Hop used as preservative on long boat trips is a Dutch invention. The English copied this trick with much success. This tiger will quenche your thirst again and again. One leg in the past and one in the present. Pure, soft and balanced.

Gedronken vanuit een 75cl fles. Een zachte ipa die het goed doet op het terras, alleen mis ik nog wat IPA overtuiging. Ik vind hem voor een IPA iets te zacht qua smaak.

Slightly sour&acidic smell. Then the first taste shows it real character, nice bouquet of malt and hop. Also: much more subtle and balanced then expected. Not extremely hoppy and the tropical fruits in the taste were almost all eaten by the tiger. Once the dust settles a nice smooth balanced ale. Crafty, but not a masterpiece. ---Rated via Beer Buddy (iOs)

Bottle. Amber, hazy, average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, caramel, some tropical fruitiness, some citrus - grapefruit hoppyness. Body is medium and sweetish flavor, caramel, light tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit - piney hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, caramel, light fruitiness, some grapefruit - piney hoppyness. Sweetish and IPA with way too much caramel considering the body/hoppyness.

Bottle. A hazy, dark amber beer with a small, dense beige head. The aroma has a touch of poorly cleaned rodent cage, as well as caramel and a yeasty touch. Bitter, lightly roasted flavor with some dried fruits. Medium body, quite dry. Bitter, roasted finish. Not very successful. 131101

Bottle thanks to Douberd and the European Local Swap II. Brown colour with an off-white head with good duration and medium lacing. Aroma is hoppy, floral and resins notes, toasted malts as well. Flavor is strong bittery with a good duration, notes of toffee and caramel. The final has a decent bitterness and moderate dry.

(Draught at Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht, 25 July 2013) Reddish amber colour with frothy beige head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with resin, blood orange and toasty malt. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of toasty malt, caramel, blood orange, black-currant and a generous citric, resinous bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with balanced sweetness. Solid and well made IPA. Nice one.

Douberd (1702) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - AUG 20, 2013
Bottle, 330 ml, poured into a tulip glass at home. ABV 6.7% Pours a dark ruby colour beer, unexpected. Beuatiful shades when the light passes through it. On top of the beer a tall, thick and creamy, light beige head. Good retention, medium lacaing left on the glass. Very strong hoppy aroma, floral, lots of pine. Taste has caramel, malts, a bit sweet at first but with good bitterness on the finish and on the aftertaste although this is almost one year old. A bit of coffee/light roasted malts too, mostly notable at the end which at first seems weird but eventually blends quite well with the rest of the flavours. Medium body, a bit low on carbonation. Good dryness on the palate. Tasty IPA, unique enough to stand the competition.
