Decent bok beer, better than the big commercial bocks. Still, it’s quite ordinary.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 330 ml from a trade with Countbeer, thanks. Poured into a tulip glass, ABV 6.8%
Brown colour on the body, with a small and thick light brown head on top, with good retention, leaving medium lacing around the glass.
Aroma of nuts, chocolate.
Taste has more nuts, some grains, light acidity at first, quite bitter, especially on the aftertaste.
Medium thick body, good carbonation, very tangy on the palate.
Overall, good bock, drinks pleasantly.

Gedronken vanuit een grote fles. Een frisse herfstbok (ook echt in de herfst drinken) met een koffie/chocolade achtige afdronk. Prima op smaak.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled, dated 12-09-2012 batch 201220825, large sample. Slight hazy dark brown color, short light brown head. Aroma of bready malt, hint of dark chocolate and coffee, hint of raisin, slight nutty. Bit sweet in taste, bit bitter mostly from the malts, slight hint of sourness (lactic acid). Quite dry in the finish actually, although it feels full bodied. Decent bock.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle. Almost black colour with weak ruby red glowing in the dimple of the glas and average to huge, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Slightly roasty, dark malty aroma with chocolate notes and hints of red berries, a touch of plum. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, minimally chocolately and fruity, bothersome dry, chalky overtones; with those overtones fading away a nice but cautious coffee finish remains, slightly too lively carbonation throughout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
30 cl bottle,
Appearance: A very dark brown close to black with a beige head.
Aroma: dark grains, roasted malts, hint of coffee. Not so strong.
Taste: nuts, hops, darkroated malts and chocolate and some hops. Quite bitter and dry for Bok. Long nice bitter aftertaste comming from the roastedness and hints of coffee.
I was suprised by this, because this clearly doesn’t taste like the standard Dutch Bok beer, it’s far more dry and bitter. Still I would pick this one over most of the other Dutch Bok beers.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a frothy tan head with a little lace. The aroma is dry yeast with a little malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a malty liqourice palate and a smooth short bitter finish. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Not a lot going on really and very little sweetness. I’ve had much better bocks.
