Bottle, batch 2014 0510 with Admiral hops and Deanston Scotch wood, no Arbeg sticker, no sign of Arbeg in the beer, so I suppose it’s a regular version. Pours black with a tan head. Wood, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, lots of spices, pine, bit of citrus. Fairly bitter, smooth and creamy intially, but turning a bit thin in the mouth. Dry finish. A bit messy.

[9/27/15] Draught sample at Borefts After Festival 2015 in Rotterdam. Black. Aroma of wood, roast, cocoa. Dry flavor, roasty, woody, slightly sourish, with coffee, cocoa, vinous fruitiness, and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

Stout from the Ramses brewery. Complexed but interesting taste. Malt, vanille, a small touch of cherry. Dark porter with creme small head. Caramel, coffee, chololate in the taste. Nice bitters which last long in the mouth.

Thx! for sharing. Sampled draft @ BAF 2015. Very dark brown to black, no head. Nose is oily syrup, flat, heavy licorice syrup. Taste is watery licorice, herbal, bark, weird herbal notes, charred oak, herbal,… Watery thick licorice body. Meh & seems like I like it noticeably less than the regular version.

This is a new experience for me. The beer is is tapped trough filter containing wood chips (probably whiskey barrels) and coffee. This system is new to me, but definitely a succes. I had the opportunity to try this beer with and without the additional tastes. The wood and coffee really give an extra dimension to the beer. What a great invention. The beer has a ruby red color, so dark it is almost black. The beer pours a little amount of rough foam with a nice almond color. The smell has delicious stout aroma’s of roasted barley, chocolate, coffee and there is a little coffee and oaky smell (because of the filter of course; the regular beer didn’t have this). The taste is delicious. There is a strong bitternes and the flavors of chocolate, coffee and a tiny licorice flavor. The bitterness is nice and strong and outbalances the sweetness. That makes this beer so good. It is really robust. The oaky taste finishes this beer. It is a perfect stout.

Bottle 33cl. Black with a light brown head. Aroma has coffee, hints of peat and some freshness. Very nice flavour with subtle wood but strong coffee taste and generously hopped. I like this one! Long finish with the bitterness staying long. Nice...
