3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted from the bottle, on 30/12/2012.
Looks oily black with just a tiny head, which disappears quickly.
Aroma is roasty/tart, not very intense.
Taste is watery and tart as well, then with notes of roasted malts, biscuits and coffee in the end.
Quite drinkable, but a bit too simple for its 9%abv, i would say.
Ps. After a few sips also could feel distinct booze character lingering the throat.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle on the train from Edinburgh (Nina’s Mini Market) - 08/12/12.
Opaque deep chestnut brown with a thin tan head that retains well.
Nose is light roast malt, touch of hops and pine, hint of mint.
Taste comprises roast malts, light vanilla, toffee, background hops and pine, a litte boozeyness.
Fuller end of medium bodied, smooth on the palate, dry in the finish.
Decent enough stout - the alcohol is well disguised.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very strong ’normal’ stout. The 9% comes through on the nose and the aftertaste. This is a sipper and not a drinker. Coffee comes out consistently. The juniper and other spices are present as well. A bit light on the tongue. Otherwise, strong.
