Tasted from the bottle, on 30/12/2012. Looks oily black with just a tiny head, which disappears quickly. Aroma is roasty/tart, not very intense. Taste is watery and tart as well, then with notes of roasted malts, biscuits and coffee in the end. Quite drinkable, but a bit too simple for its 9%abv, i would say. Neutral. Ps. After a few sips also could feel distinct booze character lingering the throat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle on the train from Edinburgh (Nina’s Mini Market) - 08/12/12. Opaque deep chestnut brown with a thin tan head that retains well. Nose is light roast malt, touch of hops and pine, hint of mint. Taste comprises roast malts, light vanilla, toffee, background hops and pine, a litte boozeyness. Fuller end of medium bodied, smooth on the palate, dry in the finish. Decent enough stout - the alcohol is well disguised.

On cask in the Wildeman. Poured dark brown, no head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and sweet malt. Medium body, doesn’t really taste the strength. Flavour of roast malt, vanilla coffee, dark chocolate. Nice lingering dry aftertaste.

Very strong ’normal’ stout. The 9% comes through on the nose and the aftertaste. This is a sipper and not a drinker. Coffee comes out consistently. The juniper and other spices are present as well. A bit light on the tongue. Otherwise, strong.

Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, mild toffee, some juniper berries and mild vanillaish and wooden notes. Hides the alcohol rather well.

Has a full on bitter roasted malt taste. Quite a thick texture. The dryness of the hop comes through at the end.
