Bottle at chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig ’11. It pours dark brown-red, with a thin foamy white head. The nose is caramel, nut, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, dark cherry and varnish. The taste is sweet caramel, dark cherry, toasted sesame seed, varnish, nut, toffee, vanilla and chocolate, with a dry-roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Pours ruby-brown with a foamy head. Sweet and spicy nose. Sweet flavor, light roastiness, more spices. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, light mocha, floral spices, mild lingering roast. A nice tweak on the style here.

Abio (1519) - Waasland, BELGIUM - JUL 27, 2011
Very dark brown, almost black at the glass. Head is ok, but should hold a bit longer. Pretty well balanced beer, good roasted, dark fruits, a hint of vanilla, nice amount of coffee. Better then expected for sure. The biterness is decent, only the feeling and taste should get a little boost, it’s a bit to watery at some point.

As all the beers by Ramses, very well balanced. It has a nice smell of malt and fried prunes. Initially it has a taste of bittersweet freshness. The sweet and fresh passes by and a dark bitter note like raw cocoa remains. Later the molasses-like sweet notes rise up again from below. The experience develops as time passes, very nice. A good stout.

Bottle. [thanks Jos & Cees]
Light muddy dark brown with a nice, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma has astringent malts, roasted, raisins, chocolate, coffee and mild herbal notes. Medium carbonation, lovely fat and creamy palate. Complex flavour, good coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla notes, some sharp herbal dryness. Cocoa-nibs and more dryness. Lingering warming finish. Good.
