COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A ruby red Dubbel with a full malty aroma and taste. Through the use of various hops a bitterness has been created that is clearly noticeable without being overwhelming.

Pours a very dark red, with an almost ice-cream floaty tight dark beige head. Smells more like a belgian stout than a dubbel - there’s a decent roast in this, and also some herbal bitterness. For the strength,. a very light and drinkable palate, though it is quite full. Pleasant carbonation. Retronasals are a simple burnt roast. Taste has the ashier side of that, and some earthy bitter hops. Bitterness rides on in the finish, quite a little tingle there, and very dry, almost ashy. Fairly simply beer, but nicely attenuated, and covering the 6.8% effortlessly.

AROMA: cherry, resin APPEARANCE: red, frothy, TASTE: medium bitterness, lightly sour, PALATE: medium body, oily feel, average carbonation, bitter, long, Ok dubbel, but a bit thin on the palate and lack of depth, mostly cherries, and the bitterness overwhelms the subtle aromas.

Bottle from Burg Bieren Bierwinkel, Ermelo, Netherlands consumed at home Friday 19th October 2012 Dark Reddy/brown in colour, a little hazy with a small off-white head. Little nutty, soft in the mouth, fruity with a nice twang. Tangy edge, there is a woodiness and a slight interesting but also uncompromising feel to this, lacks sweetness, not spicy, but very interesting. Good stuff. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
