2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Dark red-black with a good short head. Earthy, sulphuric scent. Watery and slightly bitter. Nutty, earthy and slightly sulphuric in the mouth. OK but not great.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask, Leicester Fest 07. Dark red/bropwn with a beige head. Aromas are sweet, earthy roast malts with winter fruit and some smokiness. Flavours are malty and light with a good roast character. Some citrus towards the finish. OK.

A Mes rate:
Cask at some random Kentish pub somewhere. Red brown colour with a slight tan head and lots of lace. Distinct Sarsons malt vinegar nose with more of the same in the flavour plus a little cherry. Very long medicinal and hoppy finish. Palate is almost a four but like the rest of the beer it’s just not quite there.

Eddie does brew a good dark ale! Not quite Dog, or the Escape, (exodus)! Very middle of the road, mid dark, mid aroma, mid this - mid that - I had hoped for more. Sorry Ed.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gravity, Dover BF. Very dark brown pour with a smattering of light brown bubbles. Aroma touches on blackberry, caramel and coffee, with a little bit of leather. Bright, soft fruit flavor, and a lovely toasty finish about 5 seconds after a sip. Nice heft and body. Nice beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: FEB 28, 2008 Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2007. Ruby colour beer with thin beige head. Bit of an ash tray aroma, with some sweaty sox hop. I had this down more like a brown ale than anything else, but it was very drinkable and a good beer to close out the first day of the festival. 3.2/5.0
Re-rate cask handpull at The Chambers, Folkestone. Deep ruby, lasting dark beige head. Cracking condition. Amazingly complex malt with earthy hoppy finish. Rich malts are both juicy and dry. Christmas cake flavours and an almost sherry like quality. Earthy dry hoppiness on finsh balances the malt perfectly. Superb

Bright bottled at Dover Beer Fest - 2007. A good smooth beer which tastes a little fuller than the strength. Good hop integration giving a notable dark bitter edge to the ale. An old fashioned Premium Bitter, and well made.
