A Dusseldorf-style altbier brewed with all barley malt and dry-hopped with Hallertau Middlefruh. Fermented in the 60’s and lagered in the high 30’s, this batch was made for the first time in 2006 for Circa restaurants.

egajdzis (6136) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 8, 2006
Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aromawas bready, with some grassy hops, toffee malts, nuts, and caramel. Taste of more caramel, and nuts, with light cocoa, citrus, and a lightly bitter, hoppy finish.

FROTHINGSLOSH (6846) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 23, 2006
Sampled on draft at the State College beer festival this beer poured a chestnut color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was light roasty malts. The mouthfeel was light and somewhat watery. The flavor had some bitter malts, a bland middle and no finish.

Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - AUG 17, 2006
Pours a slihgtly hazy (initial chill haze- but clears, medium amber- deep copper with a thin lasting head. Aroma is frutiy esters, sweet caramel malts, and nice herbal spicy hops. Flavor is initially light sweet malts, and finishes mostly hoppy with a nice herbal bitter finihs. Body is light to medium, but lacks a litle bit compared to Uerige Alt. A bit too fruity overall with wierd plastic phenols mixed in.

Nate (4200) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 17, 2006
Sampled at State College BrewExpo. Has a mild arom, one of mild dusty wheat and light hops. A bit bready. Light brown clear in appearance with medium body and carbonation. Nice sweet malt taste but subdued with light bitterness, like it ought to be for an altbier. Not exactly up there with the samples von der Altstadt but I’d like to have more of this. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be made until next year, and again only in kegs for Circa restaurants in the Jersey area.
