From eelbasher for locals 5.5, thanks Andrew! Pours murky dark brown with a huge tan head that falls slowly. Aroma of roasted malts, yeast, a touch of clove. Has a tart acidic backbone with dark chocolate and roasty flavors. There’s a touch of yeastiness in the finish. Not what I expected, but I like it.

Bottle. Pours brown with a dense light brown head. Aromas of clove, light bananna, chocolate, and some bread. The flavor is full of fruit, yeasty goodness, and finishing full. Really nice example of the style and a joy to drink.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Best by January 2013.
Appearance: The body is opaque but light is seen through the edges exposing a murky brown body. The head is a thin and creamy brown that settles into a light coating and a creamy ring.
Aroma: Very interesting aroma, at first I smell cocoa and roasted malts, but they are mixed with banana. This reminds me of a chocolate covered banana actually, without being cloying or artificial.
Taste: The intro hints at caramel while the flavor picks up towards the middle adding earthy and light cocoa flavors with banana, chalky yeast, and slight roasted malts on the finish.
Palate: Medium bodied with medium amounts of carbonation.
Overall: This is a very interesting beer, nice balance and a good combination of flavors despite the potential for a trainwreck with this many conflicting flavors. I enjoy this.

Dark amber that approaches brown with a thin, off-white head. Nice wheat beer aroma of banana, clove, chocolate. A moderate body. The flavors are present but soft and light. The finish is creamy and clean. I really wish the flavors were more pronounced, as that would have made this a much better beer

Bottle (12 oz). Dark brown with a medium creamy brown head and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and smoke. Taste is the same. Acidic mouthfeel. Thin body. Too acidic for me. Nothing but roasted malt and smoke.

pours a darker dunkel color. This is the loudest beer I ever heard..As soon as I start pouring an immense head forms and you can hear the activity of the bubbles as they "snap crackle pop" like rice krispies.. minutes after the pour, it is still audible. Get a toasted malt aroma, dark bread, and caramel sweetness. Not really picking up much banana or clove as expected with a wheat beer. Likewise in the flavor..the traditional wheat flavors are only subtle. More predominant flavors are roasty malts, caramel, diactyl, and a light hopping at the end

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a very dark brown color with a very small beige head that faded quickly. The aroma was lightly woody and roasty with a root beer presence. The flavor was dryish, woody and nutty with light banana, clove and roasty malts. The finish was long, woody and roasty with some banana and clove. Moderately full bodied. Eh.
