Rich Amber Bock brewed with Vienna and Munich malts. Pure lager yeast ferments this beer to create a deep malty character with a hint of caramel toffee aroma. Robust noble hops and 7.5% abv. intertwine the malty and toasty flavors. Historically, this beer is brewed once a year to celebrate the “Stark Bierzeit” (strong beer season) and to welcome the warming Spring Sunshine. On tap (actually from a keg provided by egadzis - thanks!). Poured a medium amber color with a larger sized white head. Aromas and tastes of yeast, bread, caramel, and light fruits. Very easy to drink. Alcohol content hidden.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2005 Poured a copper color with a large, lightly off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted dough, caramel malt, light hoppiness. More caramel and bread in the taste. Smooth, alcohol well covered, nice bock. This was a big hit among both beergeeks and non-beergeeks alike, at my party Saturday.

Ramstein brews this German Maibock in North Joisey. I imagine this recipe is close to what you’d sample in Bavaria. Yeasty, musty aroma, crisp hop bitterness, and spicy pepper flavors are all represented in the sample. My personal preference is for a sweeter bock than this one.

hand bottled from a growler courtesy of Lou18. tarnished copper in color. mild flavors all the way around. mild malt, spice, yeast and hops. not a lot of carbonation, which is similiar to the Winter Wheat. nice smooth and very drinkable bock. Thanks Lou!

Poured dark amber from tap at Andy’s, Small head, sweet aroma, with a trace of yeast. There was a nice smooth hop finish. Good maibock.

From a growler thanks to MaiBockAddict. Poured darker than I expected, a murky dark amber color with a small tan head. Aroma of mild malts, fresh bread and some spices. Flavor was pretty similar but with a dry hop finish where you can finally taste the alcohol that was kept so well hidden.

on tap at the brewery, a medium yellow/bronze color with mild tan head. aroma is very yeasty and malty, with some fruit tones. flavor has alot of malts going on, with a slight cider taste on the tail end of each sip. a little bit of residual bitterness lingered in my mouth at the end of the glass. body was in the middle of the road, i enjoyed this beer thouroughly.

Boring under attenuated beer of little complexity or depth. I love maibocks and this is not a good representative example.
