Influenced by the classic Bamberg rauchbiers, our Mesquite Smoked Porter is brewed with a Texas twist, using malt smoked in-house over Texas mesquite. This dark mahogany porter has a velvety mouthfeel, and a roasty, dark chocolate flavor balanced with a subtle hop spice. The nose is warm and pleasing with aromas of cured meat, pepper, leather, dark roast coffee, and a distinct mesquite wood aroma. The Mesquite-Smoked Porter’s medium body, rich complex taste of roasted grains, coffee, dark chocolate, and meaty, smoky character make this perfect for any Texas day, be it the cold of winter, or the accompaniment to a summer barbecue.

Comes together ok. Finishes with some light bitterness. Pretty good. Smoked malt with roasty chocolate, very nice for smoked beer. Bottle shared at Epic Sour Tasting.

Bottle. Black pour with a huge, overcarbonated tan head. Smoke and thin, light roast in the aroma. Taste has nice smoke but it’s followed by thin bitterness and a watery malt backbone. Light mouthfeel. Okay.

Great beer. Nice and fizzy but I gotta play disc golf so more to come.. I think it has kind of a bitter finish and definitely a smoky flavor.

Pours a solid black with a foamy brown head and lacing. It has an aroma of dark malt and smokey mesquite, and a similar flavor profile that includes a slight tobacco backbone and a long, sweet finish over a medium, slightly fizzy body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - Sweet wood and bacony smoke, dark and rich malts. Jet black with a rich light brown head. Raisin, molasses, smoke and a bit of a vinous, peaty almost acidic finish. Very nicely done.

Dark brown, tan creamy head and smoky flavor. All the flavors blend perfectly, the chocolate, coffee, roasted flavor and the smoky part are all great. Definitely will buy again

Bottle from Berkeley Bowl. Pours dark brown with a huge tan head and a smoky treacle aroma. There is a slightly sour smoked malt and chocolate flavor that is not overly smoked.

22oz bottle in a teku. Pours near black with a beige head. Aroma of light roast, a little smokiness, some metallic notes, a little dough, light bitterness, and some barbecue notes. Flavor not the best mixture of these. Average texture. Not the best beer.

Strong oaky, smoked aroma. A wet leather sensibilty.Liquid beef jerky. Lacy head. Thick like a Turkish coffee, Strong, bold and robust. It has an after taste that lingers in your belly with a warmth. By no means is this a brew to be drunken quickily. For such a low ABV it feels more boozy than it is. It’s meant to be enjoyed slowly in winter. I think it has been advertised as a year round brew but I think it should be released in the thick of winter. Given that this is a complex beer. I totally enjoyed it for that fact. I would dare not drink this in the heat of summer!
