COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Influenced by the classic Bamberg rauchbiers, our Mesquite Smoked Porter is brewed with a Texas twist, using malt smoked in-house over Texas mesquite. This dark mahogany porter has a velvety mouthfeel, and a roasty, dark chocolate flavor balanced with a subtle hop spice. The nose is warm and pleasing with aromas of cured meat, pepper, leather, dark roast coffee, and a distinct mesquite wood aroma. The Mesquite-Smoked Porter’s medium body, rich complex taste of roasted grains, coffee, dark chocolate, and meaty, smoky character make this perfect for any Texas day, be it the cold of winter, or the accompaniment to a summer barbecue.

Pours thick dark coffee black in color with a big creamy cocoa head. The aroma brings smoked barbecue sweetness really smooth in the nose. The body is quite creamy but lighter. Flavors bring smoked malts with a peppery ending from the mesquite wood or the hops, not sure. It is definitely present though.

Bottle from Choice Beverages in McKinney. Pours black with a thin tan head. The aromas are mesquite, smoked ham, pepper, and roasted coffee. The mouthfeel is slightly watery and dry with a medium body, heavy bitterness and light carbonation. Excellent beer. Cheers!

Well....enjoyed with some triscuits and crumbled blue cheese as the label suggested....Poured a big, root-beer head, which dissipated too soon. One of the darkest Porters I have seen in awhile too. This brew is much closer to a Rauchbier style in my initial opinion. Aromas of smoke (imagine that!), western wear store leather ( I am not kidding!), malts that are definitely mesquite roasted, and some molasses and turinado sugar. Texas campfire smoke tastes are the most noticeable up front. Yes, a Texas campfire is different from all others too. No hops presence at all.....all dark, sweet, lager, smoky action happening here. For such a smoky, heavy brew, the mouthfeel and wash is quite awesome...no linger, no mess-around...just all that good smoke. Ok friends....so overall I think this is a great "In Yo Face" Texas brew...Go big or go home style....It’s a Texas brew and I like it generally. Not a Porter style in my book, but solid. Prosit!

This beer smells like bbq and burning leaves. Very autumnal. Pours dark brown, almost black, with very small head and little lacing. Smooth, tongue-coating mouthfeel with little bitterness. Chocolate, smoke, leather, beef jerky. I wish I had a chopped sandwich with this beer

Too smokey (and I like smokey). Seems like they were trying too hard to make a point. No other body or good porter flavor. I tried to like this and it was just not good.

Bottle. Poured dark brown almost black with a dark tan head. Aroma of malt and smoke. Powerful smoky taste. Medium body, sticky with bitter long finish.

Dark dark brown pour. Not quite black. Medium dark brown head. Sweet smoky aroma. Mesquite smoke is about all I can taste. Sweetness from the malt. I love mesquite BBQ. So BBQ beer works for me. ---Rated via iPhone

APPEARANCE: Pours a dark brown with a short lived tan head and fair lacing. AROMA: Smoked malts, hints of chocolate and roasted coffee. TASTE: The taste is similar - smoked flavor dominates followed by a brunt coffee flavor with a nice subtle, but very present hop bitterness. MOUTHFEEL: Medium bodies and medium carbonation. OVERALL: A strong smoked flavor but not over the top; very drinkable and enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Courtesy of dcschiller. It pours mahogany with a tall rocky tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sort of smoky, sort of dusty and also sort of off-ness. Hmm? The taste is prickly with carbonation giving up roasted malts, molasses, a mild level of smoke and some tartness. It end with dark roasted malts as well as coffee and an odd off-putting tartness.
