2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
bottle... dark brown with a light tan head, nice head... the aroma light smoke, syrup, a little mesquite, too light, ok... tastes really bad, I’m thinking this is infected, way over carbonated, mostly mesquite smoke, a bit sour and bitter... high hopes but really let down

bottle shared by deyholla, thanks derek! p is thick black with a brown head that dissipates to the edge and some spotty lacing. nose is, surprise, tons of woody peat, some saltyness of cured meats, earthy leather and roasted malts, great-well-blended rich complexity. taste is the same notes ith a rich depth that matches the combination of flavors to ma!ke for a great, complex and reasoably drinkable-for-the-style brew

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
GABF 2011. Opaque milky brown, looks like used mop water. Aroma has a lot of mesquite wood and dark roasty malts. Flavor is mesquite wood, smokey, and roasted dark cereal grains. Awkwardly smooth mouthfeel, but on a huge body.

Eric brought this one to the October 3R6P tasting. This is my first beer from this brewer. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky black color with a large tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was strong mesquite and roasty malts. The flavor was strong hickory, mesquite, bacon, light roasty malts, faint vanilla, toast and cream. More sweet than I expected. The finish was long with hickory, cream and roasty malts lingering. Fairly full bodied and nicely smooth. Interesting.
