Bottle at DC Epic Sour Tasting 2014. Very dark maroon color, brown head. Nice aroma of burnt embers, smores dropped in campfires. Taste is rich, roasty with charred edges. Tasty.

Bottle thanks to Reza! Opaque black beer eith a small brownish head. Roasted chocolate flavor, menthol, caramel, licorice, some smoke. Roasted fruity flavor, chocolate, some coffee. Roasted chocolate flavor, menthol, slightly smoked, some raisin. Decent but a bit odd.

A: The beer pours a very dark brown color, almost black, with a rather tall khaki colored head.
S: Definitely gives off sort of a mesquite/barbeque feel to it. Lots of roast and smoke with a fair amount of char to go with it. Mild chocolate with some hints of licorice and just a touch of sweetness.
T: Smoke, roasted malt, and coffee are all strong flavors. There’s a slight toffee sweetness sweetness to it along with a light metallic note. A touch of earthy hops and bitterness with a light acidity coming through on the finish.
M: Medium bodied with a rather high level of carbonation for a porter.
O: Smelled pretty decent, but the flavor was a bit off, unfortunately.

Bomber from ericandersnavy. Pours pretty black with a five finger creamy tan head. The aroma is smoked chocolate. Med+ body with frothy creamy carb. Flavor is really wood smoke with a lot of dark chocolate. Imagine a steak cooked over mesquite and then rolled in shaved chocolate? Minus the blood. It’s almost beefy. Finishes pretty much as it starts. Except maybe a little coffee is detectable. Damn good beer.

on tap-pours a rich brown head and black color. Aroma is rich dark malt/oat-chocolate, some earthy. As it warms, coffee, wood/smoke. Taste is rich dark malt/oat-wood/smoke/earthy, secondary earthy hops bite. Full, rich body. On nitro, anise too.

Bomber courtesy of Bu11zeye (thanks Markus!) poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of mesquite smoke, roastiness, bakers cocoa and coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of mesquite smoke, bakers cocoa and roastiness with a smooth lingering smoked finish.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2011 Bottle thanks to Tim. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of charred meat, smoked wood chips, smoked cereal grains, ash and roasted dark chocolate malt. Overall a solid brew. Medium body.

Dark brown pour, tan head. Smoke aroma with some acrid roast and a tart note in the nose. Flavor is smoke, tart, bitter...infection?
