COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A central Texas take on the classic American style, Ranger Creek OPA is an American Pale Ale at heart that has new dimensions of flavor imparted by Texas-grown oats. It has smooth, sweet, and toasty malt flavors with an underlying creamy nuttiness from the oats. The malt profile is balanced nicely by English Fuggles and American Amarillo hops. The nose and finish are full of spicy, citrusy hops with faint notes of tropical fruits and apricot.

Draft pour at Whip In. Pours a murky amber with a thin white head. Thin sticky lacing clings to the glass. Aroma is oats, hops and a nectar-y sweetness. Flavors are the same with a bitter finish. A decent bar IPA but not one I would seek out. Not as good as I'd heard.

(draft @ The Esquire - San Antonio, TX) Lightly hazy amber pour with a fizzy white head. Citrusy hop aroma with some dry grass notes. Can’t really pick up much in the aroma from the oatmeal. Flavor is a nice grassy and slightly citrusy hop flavor. Some mild dryness at the end; whether that’s from the oatmeal or the hops I can’t really tell. Not bad though.

Aroma of citrus. Pours a cloudy light amber with a quickly disappearing white head and stringy lacing. The taste is hoppy sweet. Grape fruit. Medium body and crisp carbonation. Overall, enjoyable Texas summer quaffer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap flight at Flying Saucer San Antonio. Hazy apricot pour. Aroma of nectarines and dankness. Taste is bitter yellow stone fruit, resin, and unripe papaya. I love the creaminess in the mouth from the oats. Not great but very yum.

Clear amber with a long-lived off-white head that laces significantly. Aroma of grass, tropical fruit, bread, and oatmeal. Taste is pretty well hopped, with the spicy and bitter hop flavors dominating the malt, but also a little harsh. Medium bodied and a little fizzy.

On tap at the Whip In. The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is full of orange citrus with some biscuit malt notes. The flavor is very similar. The grass and orange notes go very well with the biscuit and light toffee notes. There is a lot amount of bitterness, as well as some creamy and oat-like notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
