This homage to Willie Nelson is a hoppy red ale great for fall weather. It has a strong malt backbone with an assertive bitterness of sticky sweet American hops (Nugget, Columbus, Chinook and Cascade). Red Headed Stranger pairs with red tamales, Texas barbecue, rich blue cheeses, and poached pears. It comes in at 6.3% ABV and an aggressive 65 IBU. Hops are a cousin to one of Willie’s favorite plants, so we think he would approve of this unique seasonal!

Aroma mostly hops with au hint of malts. Pours clear reddish brown with a mostly diminishing white head and no lacing. The taste was all hops. Medium-light body and medium carbonation. Overall, disappointing. It was a one trick pony - one that could only hop.

Pours a coppery reddish color with off-white head. Slight pine, grass, and some malt notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with grass and malt.

Dark reddish brown, slightly hazy with a very thin off-white head. Aroma is sweet, fruity, some hops. Malty flavor with a little citrus and bitterness in the finish. Okay.

12 oz. bottle served in a shaker- poured a transparent brown/maroon color. Very light carbonation, wafer thin white head with several frog eyes upon the liquid surface. Aroma of malt and refined sugar. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt isn’t soaked in caramel which is highly refreshing, some hops in the middle, finish is lightly acidic with a little sweetness. It’s ok.

A little bitter, and a little sweet, which is a nice combination for me. Low in carbonation, it's very easy to drink. It's a beautiful ruby red, but I don't really taste much malt.

Sweet molasses and gain nose. Dark brown pour. Roasted malts, sweet molasses and light leafy hops that hints of ipa on end.

They’re not lying about the hoppy. "Strong malt backbone" may be overstating it a bit, however. Looks the part but tastes more like a pale ale.

Poured a medium garnet with a healthy head. Nose of hops and mild malt. Heavy hops in the mouth. I think this style should be more leaning towards the malt.
