COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This homage to Willie Nelson is a hoppy red ale great for fall weather. It has a strong malt backbone with an assertive bitterness of sticky sweet American hops (Nugget, Columbus, Chinook and Cascade). Red Headed Stranger pairs with red tamales, Texas barbecue, rich blue cheeses, and poached pears. It comes in at 6.3% ABV and an aggressive 65 IBU. Hops are a cousin to one of Willie’s favorite plants, so we think he would approve of this unique seasonal!

I like the name of this beer because it describes my short visit to San Antonio. Draft at Flying Saucer. Clear bright amber color, tan head. Aroma of subtle caramel. Taste is very bitter toasted caramel. Very nice body.

Poured a medium garnet with a healthy head. Nose of hops and mild malt. Heavy hops in the mouth. I think this style should be more leaning towards the malt.

Tap. The look is clear, off white head, and reddish in color. The smell is malty, hops, floral, grass, and resin. The taste is hops, cereal, fruit, malty, and ok.

On tap at Whip In. Pours a cloudy amber with thick beige head that lasts leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong cascade hop and bready malt. Medium mouthfeel with bitter hop bite, fruit, and lingering bitter finish. Good.

On tap, poured a clear red-amber hue w/ a medium creamy beige head. Big hoppy aroma. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ bold bitter finish. Tastes are lemon, rye, caramel, and grass. Medium bodied, lively carbonation and clean finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Craft and Growler. Rust red color with a tan head. The aroma and flavor are a lot hopper than I expected. I get some nice pine notes as well as some caramel and toffee malt. Even with the strong hop flavor there is only a touch of bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice beer.

Aroma mostly hops with au hint of malts. Pours clear reddish brown with a mostly diminishing white head and no lacing. The taste was all hops. Medium-light body and medium carbonation. Overall, disappointing. It was a one trick pony - one that could only hop.

Holy shit! Cavie just rated this! Red-brown pour with a white head. Aroma is big citrus, caramel, and brown sugar. Taste is bitter, nuts, brown sugar, and a little fruit on the finish.
