COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Texas Farmhouse Ale is a traditional Wallonian-style saison brewed with spelt that has been smoked over 4 Texas fruit woods. The use of peach, apricot, apple and plum woods add a subtle smokiness and light fruit texture to the earthy-sweet spelt, and marries well with the complexities of the Belgian farmhouse yeast. Earthy, peppery spice, herbal notes, soft ripe fruitiness and light smoke phenols come from fermenting at high temperatures and create a deep, refreshing character. Highly attenuated for a quenching dryness, this traditional saison is an esoteric seasonal thatís made for the Texas summer months.

Absolutely how incredibly distinct the fruit wood smoke comes through in all of the stages of a taste from start to finish.

In the Ranger Creek Family this is truly one of their most forgettable brews. It has a tartness flavor to it. Zero head if that. Has a rosemary, ginger sensibility to it. It feels like saison with no bite or body to it. Tangy wash down. It doesnít say anything and fades away too fast. Grossly over hyped series.

12.7 ounce bottle thanks to Errl. Pours a hazy copper with a white head of thick foam. Good retention. Aroma is a sort of earthy dryness. Taste is mildly bitter throughout with a bit of funk coming through. Not sour necessarily, but just a little funky. Fruity and floral notes. Really nice.

Bottle:   Straw colored, very dirty towards the end of the bottle, huge frothy off-white head, little lacing.   Sweet floral and barnish nose.   Smells good.   Oh boy, band-aid to start.   Smoked spelt perhaps?   Not heavy enough in the Rauchbier sense, but enough for me to get band-aid out of it.   Otherwise fruity, floral, and very very spritzy.   I tried to pour some off in a small bottle to cap it, but the damn thing just foamed and foamed and foamed when I poured it.   Smells great, starts out on the wrong side of the tracks, but then comes back with a nice yeasty, barnish, floral, and fruity notes.   Some pale fruit skin as well.   Wonder if I waited too long on this.   Really interesting non-the-less, and enjoyable to try.   Just wished it werent so airy and foamy.   Thanks Bill!

Thanks to Dallas for the bottle! Poured straw golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up apricots, golden raisins, bready notes, and a kiss of honey with overtones of tangy fruit skins, cloves, and light mesquite.. very intriguing. The flavor found more of the smoky notes than the nose indicated, but that wasnít necessarily a bad thing.. bready notes and lesser honey at the core.. peach kernel, apricot, and smoky tartness around, plus white pepper and clovey spicage.. finished very dry with heavy carbonation and residual tartness from the fruit and smoke. Medium-bodied, but with more filling carbonation on the palate (a little bit too much).. overall very refreshing, dry, and well-balanced. Nice one!

Murky golden color with lasting off white head. Barnyard dung, dry hay, grass, light citrus aromas. medium body, average carbonation. Nice dry hay, grass, dry spice flavors with mild smoke---good

375 ml. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained white head, with some lacing. over a cloudy gold (SRM 5) body.....nose is smoke, cereal, light fruits including pear, apple.....taste is light smoke, fruit including light peach, pear, finishing with a peppery hop bite....mouth feel light of medium, carbonation adds acid bite. The smoke is incongruous to the style. Otherwise this has the underlying aromas and flavors of a Saison. Additionally, it is very quenching. It would be interesting to try this without the use of wood smoke. BJCP 7/3/14/5/6

Yellow pour, white head Odd beer. The smoked wood seems at odd with the saison yeast, a bit vegetal. Not my style.

375 ml bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye (thanks Markus) poured a clear gold with a large lasting white head. Aromas of citrus, straw, smoke and fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of smoke, straw, light fruittiness and a hint of spice with a smooth lingering fruity smokey finish.
