The aroma is not verey strong but smoke, slightly peaty, sweet malts and hints dark fruit are noted. An opaque dark brown pour with rocky mostly diminiahing tan head and fine lacing. The taste is smoky (peaty), sweet roasted malts, with slight hint of chocolate. There is a oaky/alcohol taste in the finish. Medium body with smooth carbonation. Overall, a nice smoked porter. Smoke flavor is not overpowering while the oak aging is subordinate to the overall flavor.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head. The aroma is roast and oak and vanilla. Thin mouth with sweet vanilla and oak, caramel, hides alcohol well, decent.

"bottled late 2012. has some unexpected wildnes to it, apart from the smoke. tasted more wine barreled than bourbon. A weird but enjoyable brew. Didn’t taste the 10% AT ALL...but also couldn’t tell this was once an imperial porter. Malty, but more smoked wild ale than anything else. The barrels did some weird stuff here..."

375ml bottle in a tulip. Pours dark brown with a big, beige head. Over carbonated for sure. Aroma of light smokiness, some roasted malts, light oak and whiskey, off - notes like tin or something, and pale malts. Flavor a weird blend of everything. Too carbonated. Not the best.

Bottle from my back yard fridge. Dark pour with a light tan head. Aroma is peat moss, chocolate, and smoke. Taste is sour cherries, campfire that had plastic melted in it, an raw beef.

Bottle thanks to errl. Poured into a snifter. Pours a darker, translucent brown to black with a khaki colored head of foam. The bottle gushed a little bit. The aroma has notes of cherry, vanilla, oak, flowers, roast. Smells like it’s a little infected, but it isn’t apparent in the taste. I get notes of toffee and caramel and vanilla beans in the taste. Pretty highly carbonated and a little out of character for the style. Heavy bodied. Decent enough Imperial Porter, but it is just off. Something just isn’t quite right here.

Smoky aroma like jerky. Pours black in the glass. Very carbonated. Dry with a slight smoky meaty bbq flavor to it. Overall, its drinkable but not too exciting.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a longlasting tan head. Has a roasted malty weak sour caramel aroma. Roasted malty fruity caramel and chocolate flavor with weak sour hints. Has a roasted malty caramel finish.

Bottle to one of my Texas compatriots. Bottled 11.27.12. Pours with a massive foam, not a gusher, but not what was intended. Huge tan head near black body. Aromas are of dark fruit, smoke, ash, licorice. Mild funk, iodine, barrel. Damp leaves, wet wood, cocoa. Flavors are smokey, mesquite and ashy. Very roasty. Mild acidity, probably in the 3.65-3.80 range. Seems to definitely be the start of an infection. Funky, fudge, earthy, like an unrestrained and funky French Second Growth. Peppery, earthy, mild tart and strong tannin. Very high (2.8-3.0 vol CO2) carbonation, medium bodied, tart finish.
