3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle-purchased in Austin TX June 2012-pours lightly hazy apricot hue with a small sudsy white head eround the rim of the glass that lasted the whole time. nose is cool-wood, oak, lite peaches, lite bright grape note, but the oak really shines through here. at first i thought it was a bit odd but i have grown to like it over the course of the beer. flavors exhibit the big oak flavors with a very pronounced resinous bitterness with lite leafy/tobacco character. lots of pine/resin hop flavors with the woody undertones from both the oak and hop flavors. unique and cool brew here glad i picked up a couple of these in Austin. For some reason, i was thinking this was going to be a sour beer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
It poured a pumpkin color with very little head. It reminded me a little of Real Ale’s Sisyphus but not as good. I detected a strong alcohol bite. On the other hand, it was not too over the top. There was a nice malty sweetness followed by a hop bitterness I found to be a little hollow. It was a good after dinner beer and a good attempt at the style. They just have a little way to go. I look forward to No. 2.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is apricot and floral hops. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet fruity malt and rye flavor with dry finish. Easy to drink a good American strong ale from Ranger Creek.
