Growler: Thanks, Jason. Muddled, hazy amber; topped with a flimsy, eggshell colored film & bubbly collar. Aroma hints at mild tropical fruit with underlying sugar cookie & caramel malt sugars, a hint of white pepper creeping in the back-end. All together, a very understated nose for a Double IPA. Taste has a nice backbone of toasted cracker malt, on the edge of caramel with the hops contributing a moderate orange & mango-like fruitiness; a little citric, a little tropical, but exceeding with neither. Lingering, ashy-bitter hop finish with a slight hint of that toasted bread maltiness. Not bad, just on the edge of being too malty for me, but never really getting there. Pretty neutral in most aspects.

Growler, shared at Jeff’s. Cloudy orange pour with a small head with big bubbles and it lingers a while. Slight musty tropical fruit aroma with some light caramel and alcohol. Moderate sweetness and light bitterness in the taste. A mix of tropical fruit, citrus and grass with a light caramel backbone. Some alcohol in the finish. Medium to full body.

Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus and a touch of grapefruit. It pours a hazy dull orange with a small off-white head. The flavor starts with sweet citrus and a hint of tropical fruits. The finish has moderate grapefruit, spice, and a touch of lemon peel. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel.

Snifter pour of medium light copper and full white head. Nose is mild, hops and obvious citrus, light cardboard, juicy orange peel towards the end. Flavor is bitter hops up front with resin and pine mostly. Not a bad flavor actually. Good citrus flavor following. Really an enjoyable double. Well done.

Orange pour, white head. Flavors of citrus hops, some more yeast and malt than you might expect but it works fine. Some good fruity flavors. Good stuff.

Pours a hazy copper brown from the growler with thin white head that leaves light lacing. Aroma of caramel and slight bready grain malts, then a nice earthy citrus hop finish. Taste is caramel maltiness with a faint pine and citrus back, a nice bittersweet finish. Solid.

Draft at the brewery. Deep orange pour with a frothy white head. Citrusy and fruity hops with sweet caramel malts and bits of breadiness. Warm mouthfeel with caramel and bready malts with a big citrus and pine bitter ending. Pretty tasty.

Cool stuff. On tap at the brewery. Nose is caramel and pine with some tropical fruit. Flavor is similar with well balanced hops and malt. Drinks incredibly smooth for such a high abv.

Chipalsa (1306) - Florida, USA - JUN 4, 2013
This was a solid brew - zesty hops in the aroma with some pine, pineapple and grapefruit as well. The taste was malty sweet with more citrus and light caramel notes with a bold hoppy undertone. For a strong beer it goes down easily and smoothly. Well done here.

Draft at the brewery. Pours pale amber orange with an off white head. Aroma is malty citric piney fruity and has a light touch of caramel. Flavor is similar to the aroma, good bitter bite which lasts to the long finish.
