.5L bottle from brewery, also tried draft at the brewery. Pours opaque brown-black with thin brown head that fades quickly. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and toast with faint earth and citrus. Medium body, texture is on the thin side. Some citrus bitterness - more present in the bottle than the tap.

Draught at brewery. Pours black, with a thin tan head and some lacing. Smells of subtle chocolate, coffee and malt. Tastes of unsweetened chocolate maltiness. Slight underlying bitterness which seems to not match the rest of the flavors, and sticks out. Very smooth, medium bodied, finishes dry.

Rich dark toasted malts with a hint of licorice, smooth in the mouth, medium/gentle carbonation. The best black stout I have found; I can understand how it won a European Beer Star gold medal in 2009.

Black color; huge bronish head. Nice aroma, mild coffee, roasted malt, caramel, cardboard. Medium bodied, the mouthfeel is quite smooth, with a mild (very appreciated) roasted malt flavor, some caramel, light liquorice, and a milky feeling too. Good Schwarz, well brewed.

Bottled 50cl. Aged example. Appearance: It pours a wonderful pitch dark with a beautiful deep biege creamy head. Good head retention and nice lacework. Aroma: Dark chocolate, hops, tar, pumpernickel, grapefruit, sorbet and lemon peel showing up. Deeply pleasant. Flavor and palate: Huge amounts of dark chocolate, tar, grapefruit and lemon peel. Good hop presence. Medium bodied. Perfectly balanced. Nice bitterness. Dry finish with tar and rose showing up. Overall impression: Excellent. Complex, beautiful and extremely enjoyable. Thanks a lot bov for this beer!

[Bottled. Thanks to omhper] Dark brown colour. Huge pale brown head. Rich, toasty chocolatey nose with notes of mushrooms. Mushrooms are there in flavour as well, along with pale chocolate or cocoa. Very dry beer. Solid tasty beer.

Bottled, thanks Bov! Very black, rich very brief head. Evident chocolatey roasty aroma. Dryish with dense mouthfeel and fairly light body. Roasty with burnt notes of coffee, rather clean flavour profile. Medium bitterness.
