Ørbæk, Denmark Danish: I middelalderen var Nyborg kongernes by. I knap to århundreder – fra midten af 1200-tallet og frem til 1413 – mødtes kongen med det danske parlament i Danehofsalen på Nyborg Slot. Her blev rigets første grundlov – Erik V Klippings håndfæstning – underskrevet i 1282.
Kongerne tog ofte ophold på Nyborg Slot og i slutningen af 1400-tallet synes det at blive mere permanent. Christian 3. fuldførte planerne om at gøre Nyborg til residensstad og på mange måder rigets første hovedstad indtil København overtog den rolle efter 1560.
Sammen med Ørbæk Bryggeri har vi skabt en øl, der rummer historien om kongemagtens Østfyn centreret omkring Nyborg Slot og by – Danmarks Riges Hjerte. Der er tale om et rigtigt kongebryg, som tager udgangspunkt i den gode humle tilsat et strejf af citron – en frugt der i middelalderen var så eksklusiv, at kun konger og fyrster havde råd til at købe den.
