Himmlisch!

Bottle. Light caramel colour with a full head, aroma is nutty caramel. Starts lovely, crisp bitter but like a lot of these pale ales tends to fade. Grand but could be more.

330ml Bottle as a gift from Dresden, Germany:
Not a bad offering for my first German craft beer, it was certainly different from all the other beers I managed to try on my recent trip to the country and it was a beer that went down fairly well without really excelling. There was some nice hops coming through and a decent enough amount of bitterness as a result but I couldn’t help but feel that it seems a little too much like a watered down version of an American pale ale. Enjoyable and easy to drink whilst sitting in the sun but I doubt it would be one I’ll have again.

Bottle. Citrusy modest smell. Body of creamy, buttery malt, with a hint of caramel. Mildly bitter notes of fruity hops, bit of yeast as well. Not bad, gentle apa.

0,3l Flasche. Goldorangenes Ale mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Riecht fruchtig. Schmeckt fruchtig, sehr hopfenbetont. Angenehm!

330ml bottle, poured into La Chouffe tulip. A: Bronze, clear, small tanned head which didn’t hang around long, minimal lacing. S: Cascade and Simcoe hop, mild citrus, not overly fragrant when compared with other APA/IPAs, although this improved as the beer warmed. T: Initially watery, the citrus fruits were prevented from breaking through, but this changed as the beer warmed, moderate bitterness, slightly wheaty finish. M: Slightly sticky texture, lower carbonation as is the norm for the genre. O: Really picked up as it warmed, decent for the price but needed more depth to compete with its transatlantic rivals.

Bottle from Die Bierothek, Bamberg. Deep gold in colour, with a decent, white, head. A touch of citrus hop, some stone fruits and sweetish malts. A hint of buttery was evident in the finish, but pretty good overall.

01.08.2014, tap sample @ Altes Mädchen Braugasthaus, Hamburg:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is mild and slightly sweet, leafs, caramel malts, lawn, flowers, wet hops, grass, sap. Taste is slightly fresh grassy, leafs, lawn, caramel malts, pine needles, wet hops, sap. Medium bitterness, watery mouthfeel. In a way it’s very nice and easy drinking. Still, it lacks a richer body and feels very watery...

(Draught at Fritz Braugasthaus, Stralsund, 2014). Clearly spicy aroma with hints of citrus and sweet tropical fruits. The taste is similar to the aroma with a good hoppy bitterness in the finish.

Caramel, mild citrus hop. Quite malty, orange candy, citrus peel, hoppy dry finish. Average pale ale, probably just as targeted by this low-cost/wide-audience craft brewery.

Pours in copper cloudy body with lacing white foamy head. Aromas fruits, orange, vanilla, floral herbs.Texture is little tart and fizzy mouthful carbonated, body medium full watery. Palate some citrus fruits, hoppy bitter dryness and some sweet notes. Aftertaste is hoppy, fruity with long bitter finish. All in all very pretty OK, but a bit too watery and bland. Still a good basic Pale Ale.
