Himmlisch!

Mixpack from a getränkemarkt outside of Heiligenhafen. Sharp herbal and spicy smell, almost like a snaps or christmas beer. The taste isn’t as off but it has a weird spicy aroma. I don’t get much hops, just a hint. Rough mouthfeel. Medium bitterness. Unclean and not very pleasant.

Bottle shared by Cuso. Aroma caramelly biscuity malty, resiny citrusy hoppy. Clear orange colour. Taste basically as aroma suggests. Nice balance, rather bitter but with good malty background. Also very sessionable. Very good one.

Bottle. It’s a clear one, golden in color and with a small, white head. The aroma is quite grainy and lightly fruity, with some orange zest and peach hints. Hay too. It’s medium bodied, soft and smooth, with a decent bitterness. Pale malts, hay, grass and orange zest in the flavor. Lasting finish with a good dash of orange zest. Not my kind of pale ale this one, too malty and not enough fruity and hoppy enough. 150711

I expected american, hoppy pale ale and all I got was malty, fruity english ale, not the best I had. Caramelly, malty with medium to low bitterness. The beer is rather sweet and kinda hard-drinking.

Quite a British nose: caramel, orange marmelade, fruity, fragrant rather British hops, some oak hints. Taste is more like a Pale Ale, nice and balanced, fruity hops with a soapy edge; a subtle hop bitterness in the finish.
