Himmlisch!

330ml bottle at Cafe Gavlen Nørrebro. Filmy layer, misty dark golden body. Citrus nose with grainy malts. Taste of mid-sweet malts, some sappy oranges and and herbal hops. Bittersweet endnotes. Rounded mouth feel. Easy to drink. Fine partner to my delicious herring sandwich (Copenhagen 15.11.2015).

Bottle. Is this just a PA? Really? Has the hoppy aroma and power of an IPA. Appropriate malts, too. Nice!

Bottle @ Café Brecht, Amsterdam. Pours hazelnut brown, normal white head. Solid PA, bit cara, but quite thin and dry. Which is nice for a PA, they can be thick and sugary.

The beer has a typical IPA/pale ale appearance. The color is orange and the beer looks very summery. The color is bright. The beer has some cloudiness, which gives the beer a mat appearance. The foam is white and rough. It collapses quickly. The smell is nice. It is filled with hoppy aromas. The aroma is sweet, citrusy, very fruity and bitter. It is great, everything a pale ale/IPA should have. The taste is also nice. It is bitter like a food IPA needs to be. The aroma’s of the smell are also represented in the taste. It is nice, a good beer, but it misses the wow factor to take the beer to the next level.

0.33 l bottle, year and a half since the due date passed. Thanks a lot Marko. Hazy dark golden with floating bits in the glass. Medium off white head. Old oil aroma. Canvas? Oil pastels? Cheese? Sour cream Pringles, that’s it! Flat, malty, to sweet, no hops, maybe just in the finish.

Smooth and fresh beginning. Nice floral hops, not too intense but easy to drink. Fresh, hints of grain. The aftertaste is quite mild. Floral hops on a smooth body but not much bitterness. Great session Ale!

Copenhagen 29/8 2015. Birthday gift from Hamburg from my friend Herr. Luf. Thanks. Pours hazy gold brown with with head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam with lacing. Aroma is perfumed with notes of citrus. On the sour side. Soft carbonation. Beer is a bit watery. Flavour is medium bitter with short aftertaste. I have not encountered very many German pale ales. Certainly decent enough - but not anything to write home about.
