A decent ale. Pours a very nice dark Amber with a tan head. Smells like beautiful vanilla bean. Taste however is not very complex. Smooth and malty but not the most interesting. Tasted at the BevMo Holiday Beer Fest.

Mahogany color, moderate head, good lace/retention. Aroma is dark bread, caramel, earth, syrup. Medium bodied, alcohol hidden well, somewhat creamy mouthfeel. The real deal.

19 feb 2014, bottle. Ruby brown, clear, no bubbles. Nose is raisin bran cereal malt. Med body and moderately fizzy. Sugary, mild alcohol, raisins, syrup, maybe lightly nutty, slight alcohol bite. Very nice! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to Nolen! Pours clear reddish black with a small creamy tan head that slowly dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is dark sugars, biscuit, molasses. Flavor follows, bread with lots of dark sugars and a bit of a hoppy bite. Medium sweet and fairly bitter, with a lingering bittersweet finish. Pumpernickel breads, burned caramel. Medium body, creamy, perhaps a bit acidic. Medium carbonation. Some heat from the ABV. Pretty decent.

12oz bottle. Served chilled in a tulip glass and let come up in temperature. Aromas and flavors of maple syrup, dark honey, brown sugar, caramel, dark bread and molasses. Smooth, sweet and rich palate, with creamy carbonation and medium finish. Enjoyable. Good example of a domestic Dobbelbock. Poured from bottle. I smell vanilla and pancake syrup. Mahogany with thin tan head. I taste vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, alcohol and prunes. Quite sweet but highly drinkable. Creamy feel. Well done. Hope the rest of the sample pack is as impressive.

Bottle; poured a really dark caramel color with a khaki colored head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, bread, and some earth. A nice sweet component. Really smooth and good flavor. A good dose of dark fruit and breadiness, balanced by some caramel and sweetness. Quite good

Bottle->snifter. Dark mahogany with small offwhite head. A: heavy malt, with caramel, toffee, nuts. T: caramel malt, sweet bread, sugar. Bittersweet aftertaste. Thin, watery, too sweet. Yet still decent.

Attractive mahogany pour w/ a big tan head that slowly fades into some decent lacing. Aroma is dominated by sweet malt. Taste is caramel malt that is very well balanced. Medium bodied, sweet, & quite smooth at 8%. This is a damn good beer!
