COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Raven Special Lager is a perfect balanced lager beer that goes well with any kind of food, but particularly with spicy food or when you just want to sit down and enjoy a beer with friends. With a shot of Woodford Reserve chased with chilled Raven is a near perfect combination. The rich golden colored beer is an exceptionally smooth Southern German lager, somewhat malty but well balanced between the hops and malt. Experiencing the clean finish and pleasant lingering aftertaste of The Raven Special Lager, one can truly say that The Taste Is Poetic. For the European market the beer is brewed under license by Anker-Brauerei, Nagold, Germany.

Bottle at Max’s. Pours a clear copper body with no head light white ring of lacing. Aroma is malt, grain and light spice. Pretty bland overall. Mouthfeel is light and carbonated with notes of grain, corn, sweet malt and grain. Some metallic character on the palate as well.

Drank from the bottle. Aroma is tired and typical lager style with emphasis on grain, corn, and hay. Taste is malt, hay, and corn. Not much to this beer.

An okay, easy drinking lager. Amber colored, a ton of quickly disappearing head. Weak bodied and sweetish. Little to no hop bite. Picked this up at the 930 club in 2014.

Lagery and uninteresting. Not even a taste of rust that sometimes shows up in a distinguished can of vienna. Tap at Boundary Road.

kramer (5034) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 12, 2014
Bottle. Pours a clear copper body with a small fizzy white head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is quite grainy and sweet with some caramel and toasty malt. Minimal to no hops in the aroma. The flavor is rather thin and sweet, lacking in much vienna malt character and any hop character at all. It doesn’t really even come across as a lager, the finish is grainy and husky and completely lacking in smoothness. Light bodied and thin with fizzy soft carbonation. Pretty poor attempt at a Vienna.

Poured from bottle. Sweet malt aroma. Classic amber with beige head. Lots of toasted malt in flavor balanced with hops. Slight bit of pepper. Bold and refreshing feel. Nicely done.

Corn and honey nose, similar to certain breakfast cereals. Clear amber, headless. Lightly sweet, less corny flavor. Clean finish.

On tap @ Provisions Market. Golden pour with a soapy white head. Nose is really heavy on the fruit esters (mostly apple) and grainy sweetness. A touch of yeast, rice, and maybe just a hint of toast. Mostly sweet on the palate. Lots of rice, grain, and apple. Mild yeast and very minimal hop character. Not offensive, at least.
