2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
THOUGHTS: Might have been a little stale or slightly skunked, but a dedent Vienna was in there somewhere.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. poured a slightly hazy, light copper or very light rust with a large, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma had moderate toasted and sour malt; lighter caramel; light grassy and earthy hops; hints of cooked corn and slight skunk. The initial flavor was slightly sweet; while the finish was lightly sweet and slightly bitter. There was toasted malt, honey, slight skunk, grassy hops, sour malt, earthy hops, light nuttiness, caramel, and a hint of lemon. The light to medium body was watery with soft carbonation and a metallic finish.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a clear copper body with a small fizzy white head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is quite grainy and sweet with some caramel and toasty malt. Minimal to no hops in the aroma. The flavor is rather thin and sweet, lacking in much vienna malt character and any hop character at all. It doesn’t really even come across as a lager, the finish is grainy and husky and completely lacking in smoothness. Light bodied and thin with fizzy soft carbonation. Pretty poor attempt at a Vienna.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap @ Provisions Market. Golden pour with a soapy white head. Nose is really heavy on the fruit esters (mostly apple) and grainy sweetness. A touch of yeast, rice, and maybe just a hint of toast. Mostly sweet on the palate. Lots of rice, grain, and apple. Mild yeast and very minimal hop character. Not offensive, at least.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Clean & somewhat crisp is the only compliments i can come up w/ for this one. About as generic as they come w/ just a slightly better finish than macros. Forgettable & not recommended!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a clear amber color - this is darker than I anticipated. The head is one fingers high, and barely off-white in shading. Not much in the way of either retention or lacing.
S: The primary notes are toasted malts and a hint of noble hops. Some fleeting caramel sweetness also invades the nose ever-so-slightly. Pretty basic, but not bad.
T: Plenty of caramel and toffee to start, which turns slightly nutty and toasty near the middle...and also slightly metallic on the finish. Faint hoppy hints also appear on the back end; I want more of this to appear. If nothing else, the flavors seem to improve slightly as the carbonation slows down.
M: This has too much of a rough, coarse feel for me going down. The high carbonation is welcoming, but the way it cuts through the otherwise sweet texture isn’t. Should be more drinkable, as well.
O: This should be reclassified as an amber, or perhaps even a Vienna lager. At the very least, it’s an acceptably mediocre amber/Vienna (hey! ratebeer got it right!) Not bad, but I don’t see much reason to pick this up over SA Boston Lager, which is cleaner, crisper, easier to drink, and available everywhere.
