COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Your first experience with this IPA is the citrus bouquet from its rocky white head. The initial taste is subdued but gradually becomes intense without any harsh bitterness. The Heartier the Better.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a beautiful amber color with great clarity. About one fingerís worth of (off-white) head is formed; while itís not the best retaining, it has a good creaminess and leaves a bit of lacing behind. Quite a good-looking IPA. S: The hops are effusive, but not aggressive. Piny notes are at the forefront, with a slight melon, mango, and grapefruit undercurrent. Some biscuity malt tries to pop out of the glass at times. This one has an aroma reminiscent of - more than any other IPA - Sculpin. Thatís not a bad place to be. T: This is very piny in flavor, especially as it first hits the palate. A few twinges of grapefruit and melon tries to appear, but this is primarily a pine bomb. It finishes with some maltiness - and uh oh, itís crystal malt. That damn toffee finish is unmistakable. And sure enough, it cloys my palate after about 2/3rds the bottle. When they appear, the subtle fruit notes are absolutely the highlight of this brew. M: Iím not a fan of the finishing feel: itís far too tongue-scrapingly rough and even astringent. A shame, because it hurts the crispness this beer also has. Itís still drinkable, but in a rather unrefined manner. O: Not a bad IPA, but the potential to be great with only a tweak or two is there. All that does is make it even more disappointing. Cutting down on the crystal malt presence would go a long, LONG way. Quoth the TWC, nevermore.

12oz bottle poured. Appearance is nice copper with off white head. Nose is fairly weak with some sweet malt and citrus. Taste is hoppy fruity, sweet, and some grainy flavor as well. Finish is lightly bitter. Overall, an average ipa. Not something I would seek out in the future.

This beer is a clear amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of fruity hops and grainy malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

On tap at the 2014 Maryland Microbrewery Festival. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Aroma consists of grapefruit, peach, and lemon. Taste is much the same. Thin bodied beer with moderate carbonation average bitterness and a sticky mouth feel. Its okay just nothing to differentiate it from others.

Bottled as "Tell Tale Heart IPA." Nose is rich in PNW hops citrus and superheavy dark caramel, light earthy and toffee, sticky malt. Lightly doughy. Pours golden but a bit more amber toward the top, deep with slow carbonation and a rocky, lacing beige head. Taste medium bitter with a little too much alcohol showing, richly malty with a little crystal and roast, strong dough and stronger caramel, citrus on the periphery until the finish and the first burp! Full body is smooth and malty, clean, somewhat moreish despite the weight. Light pine [and, as some have noted below, some mild onion in the finish]. Pleasantly surprised, this is a very good and balanced East Coast take!
