[cask, at the Great British Beer Festival 2015] - Raw Brewery Grey Ghost IPA, 5.9%. Aroma of peach, honey, mild floral notes. Medium to full body, oily. Mild carbonation. Slightly sweet, with medicinal notes, oranges and herbs, pine at the start. Pine and hoppy notes in the middle. Finish is predominantly hoppy and floral, with moderate bitterness. Lemon and floral notes in the finish. More bitter and hoppy lasting aftertaste. Still, not much of an IPA and not much for 5.9%.

Cask (handpump) at Cask Pub & Kitchen on 17 June 2011. Mid gold with a thin white head. Excellent condition. Dry and a little citric - maybe grapefruit but it’s all a little restrained. The malt base seemed a little sweet. Easy drinking but seemed to lack impact for an IPA. I was expecting more from an IPA by a brewery with a growing reputation. Maybe something not quite right here? Flagged for re-rate.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a broken white head. The aroma is citrus fruit and light malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a powerful hop bitter dry spiced pepper palate and a rather odd long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. The bitterness was a little odd to start with but it quickly grew on me!

500ml bottle from Hand Drawn Monkey, Huddersfield. Massive bitter bomb on first sip, which actually quells throughout the glass to allow the citrus and tropical colours to come through. By the end the huge bitterness has subsided and a nice fruity bittersweet character comes through. Quite nice, if a little unbalanced in that respect.
