Powerful American hopped IPA with citrus and grapefruit flavours. Smooth and deceptively easy to drink. Award winner - Silver New Brewer Peterborough.

Cask (handpump) at Cask Pub & Kitchen on 17 June 2011. Mid gold with a thin white head. Excellent condition. Dry and a little citric - maybe grapefruit but it’s all a little restrained. The malt base seemed a little sweet. Easy drinking but seemed to lack impact for an IPA. I was expecting more from an IPA by a brewery with a growing reputation. Maybe something not quite right here? Flagged for re-rate.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a broken white head. The aroma is citrus fruit and light malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a powerful hop bitter dry spiced pepper palate and a rather odd long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. The bitterness was a little odd to start with but it quickly grew on me!

500ml bottle from Hand Drawn Monkey, Huddersfield. Massive bitter bomb on first sip, which actually quells throughout the glass to allow the citrus and tropical colours to come through. By the end the huge bitterness has subsided and a nice fruity bittersweet character comes through. Quite nice, if a little unbalanced in that respect.

Sampled at GBBF 2013, London - Day 2. Pours clear gold with a light, white cream head. Nice pissy hop nose with hints of lemon. Medium sweet flavor with moderately sugary citrus, pee, simple pale malts. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Faint hoppy resins to finish with further cat pee, lemon and lightly spicy anise. Good IPA.

(Cask, GBBF 2013): Golden colour with a small white head. Aroma of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel and hops. Grapefruit heavy flavour, grassy hop, tangy citrus juice elements. Not bad, nice and light. Would be a great beer garden beer.

Cask conditioned at The Lamb & Flag, Oxford. Gold with white head. Good, crisp citrusy IPA, dry with a flavoursome grapefruit, pithy hop flavour, bitter with a long finish. A very pleasant beer much appreciated in the evening sunshine outside the L&F.
