Gregis (923), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Apr 22, 2008 Bottle courtesy of csbosox. Thanks for the bottle, Chris. Pours clear gold with lots of rising bubbles and a finger of fizzy white head that diminishes to a thin cap. The nose is a muted blend of sweet grain and lightly grassy hops with an accompanying "off" note. Light bodied with moderately prickly carbonation and a crisp finish that features touches of metal and astringency at the back of the tongue. The flavor is sweet and corn-like with faint grassy hops at the quick, lightly metallic finish. As a lawnmower beer, it’ll fill the bill, but it isn’t likely to convert many anti-macro beer geeks.
bhensonb (3015), Woodland, California, USA Sep 12, 2008 Bottle from D&J Liquor in St. Louis MO. Darker gold color with a good frothy head that didn’t last. Somewhat bready aroma with floral/citrus notes. Medium body with frothy/creamy carbonation. Flavor is caramel, bready and spicy/grassy. Nice finish, but more a pilsener than a pilsner. Still, the bitter in the finish is respectable. The fruit aspects are attractive. ratman197 (2362), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jul 11, 2008 Bottle poured a clear amber with a lingering ring of ivory foam. Aromas of carmel and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, straw and light earthiness with a smooth malty finish. The_Beer_God (2859), Newport News, Virginia, USA Jun 24, 2008 Bottle from my friend Vince. Pour is a light gold with a tall white head. Nose is rather sweet for a "pilsner" and lightly grainy. Taste was equally sweet. Lots of sweet malts, cereal and soft honey notes. Light buttery notes as well. Body is light-medium and has a fizzy, bubbly carbonation. Finish is more sweet malts, cereal grains and light grass. Touch of honey as well. Not offensive and slightly refreshing. jcr (853), Jasper, Indiana, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle. A comfortable, easy-drinking lager that has more flavor and body than most American pale lagers. Clear, golden body with a big, big-bubbled head that diminishes to nothing quickly. Aroma is slightly sweet with a hint of caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet (honey) with tastes of grain and corn. Finish is lightly bitter. Light body, but the texture is just above watery. Fizzy mouthfeel, perhaps too much forced carbonation.
Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Apr 30, 2008 Bottle. I suspected this was an AB product, but wasn’t sure until now. This pours with a nice robust golden color, but virtually no head. There’s just a hint of an aroma, lightly starchy, lightly grapey. It drinks with a light buttery character, inoffensive in any way. Not overly malty, but without any notable character either.
