COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
First brewed to celebrate the 500th guest beer at the Dartmouth Inn, Newton Abbot, and was named by a customer in a competition. It went down so well that it has become a regular beer. This enigmatic full bodied beer with malty hoppy fruit bitter with a sweet taste which all vie for dominance in this complex and well crafted premium chestnut coloured ale

A clear amber/light brown beer, with a tick foamy off white head. The aroma of fruits, caramel, spices with some nuts. The taste is some sweet caramel, moving to bitter. Nutty and a little spices. The aftertasteis sweet with a little bitter.

Bottle. Clear amber pour, thick foamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel, nuts, slightly soapy, spicy, and with some licorice. Flavor is sweet malty and slightly bitter. A bit spicy and some licorice in the finish. A hint of soapy chemicals as well. Mostly ok though.

500ml bottle, poured into a straight Firkin Off Licence pint glass. Rather fitting as this long defunct outlet was where I first came across RCH brews many moons ago. Darkish brown with a light creamy head, marshmallow aroma with a good, malt & hop taste. Sweetish with some fruit & caramel, the epitome of a good English bitter.

Bottle. Pours a clear, deep golden/amber with a big, creamy off-white head. Good lacing. Very nice. Sweet, fruity aroma with a green apple note. Malt in the background. Slight dark fruit note as it warms. Flavour is sweet and malty with notes of bread and a bit of hops. Remote plastic note as it warms. Further warming brings out a cloying grainy-like sweetness. Finish is Somewhat grainy as well, a bit tart and with a lingering mild green apple note. Soft palate. Overall so-so; appearance and palate were very good, but aroma and flavour were average. 21.09.12.

Cask, half pint served in a mug at The Queens Head. Just one patch at the surface of a clear amber coloured body. Malt-fruity aroma with wet leaves. Marmalade taste with dried fruits, bread and caramel. Plain bittersweet finish. Quite pleasing to drink (London, 23.11.2012).
