Bottle. Brownish beer with a strong frothy head. The aroma is sweetly caramel with a bitter finish, and the flavour is quite creamy, with a sweet and very mildly bitter body. Overall a good gentle beer.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle (bottle conditioned), from Rich’s Farm Shop, Somerset. Murky reddish copper colour. No head to speak of after the initial pour. Full malty aroma, quite yeasty, with a hint of treacle. But there’s something a bit unappealing that I can’t quite identify lurking in the background. More sweet malt, treacle and yeast on the palate. I even thought it had a vaguely Belgian feel to it. Plenty of other stuff going on - a little chocolate, lots of plummy fruit and malt loaf (the stuff with dried fruit in it). Bittersweet finish. Quite chewy with a fairly full mouthfeel.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask@The Market Porter, Borough, London. This was dull, but drinkable. Earthy hops, dry and green. With some grainy dry malts. Mouthfeel wasn’t as smooth as expected, slightly rough, witrh some tea-like qualities. Not really to my liking, but it was drinkable.

Fabulous and always a favourite. Light strong and very tasty. Why can’t they all make beer this good?
