COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
First brewed to celebrate the 500th guest beer at the Dartmouth Inn, Newton Abbot, and was named by a customer in a competition. It went down so well that it has become a regular beer. This enigmatic full bodied beer with malty hoppy fruit bitter with a sweet taste which all vie for dominance in this complex and well crafted premium chestnut coloured ale

500ml bottle, poured into a straight Firkin Off Licence pint glass. Rather fitting as this long defunct outlet was where I first came across RCH brews many moons ago. Darkish brown with a light creamy head, marshmallow aroma with a good, malt & hop taste. Sweetish with some fruit & caramel, the epitome of a good English bitter.

(cask) slightly hazy deep amber-brown colour with no head. aroma of roasted malts and light hazelnuts, slightly oxidized, with a hint of dark fruit and powdered sugar. flavour is very sweet, heavily oxidized and grainy, with lots of cardboard and walnuts in the dry light-bitter finish. light- to medium-bodied with no carbonation.

Bottle. Copper-brown pour with foamy uneven off-white head that sustains and laces nicely. Nose offers sweet fruity malts with notes of figs, treacle, dried dark fruits and nutty hints. Palate is creamy smooth and easy drinking with a lowish carbonation and a moderate hop bitterness to the finish. Enjoyed this one.

Cask at the moon under water Watford JDW. Aroma is big solventy, hot alcohol, apple. Perhaps some cleaning products. Flavour is sweet brown sugar, apple and berries, some oxidation. Medium sweet sugary palate is decent fine carbonation. Too much alcohol presence.
