3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ReV2 (52) - Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2012
500ml bottle, poured into a straight Firkin Off Licence pint glass. Rather fitting as this long defunct outlet was where I first came across RCH brews many moons ago. Darkish brown with a light creamy head, marshmallow aroma with a good, malt & hop taste. Sweetish with some fruit & caramel, the epitome of a good English bitter.

Cask, half pint served in a mug at The Queens Head. Just one patch at the surface of a clear amber coloured body. Malt-fruity aroma with wet leaves. Marmalade taste with dried fruits, bread and caramel. Plain bittersweet finish. Quite pleasing to drink (London, 23.11.2012).

Bottle. Pours a clear, deep golden/amber with a big, creamy off-white head. Good lacing. Very nice. Sweet, fruity aroma with a green apple note. Malt in the background. Slight dark fruit note as it warms. Flavour is sweet and malty with notes of bread and a bit of hops. Remote plastic note as it warms. Further warming brings out a cloying grainy-like sweetness. Finish is Somewhat grainy as well, a bit tart and with a lingering mild green apple note. Soft palate. Overall so-so; appearance and palate were very good, but aroma and flavour were average. 21.09.12.
