3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12th October 2011
Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear gold beer, residual white head. Tangy dried fruits with an odd estery pear note, banana too, coming through quite strongly. Finishes with sweet orange marmalade and then mild bitterness. Not at all unpleasant but a little off the wall.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Had this one at the 4th annual Lititz cask beer festival.
A - Pours golden amber with a small white head leaving light lace down the glass.
S - Smells of wet grass, citric hops, caramel malt, and fresh apples. This one smells ok but it really didn’t blow me away here.
T - Starts off with some citric hop bitterness quickly giving way to a mix of caramel sweetness, fresh cut grass, apples, and some other light fruitiness. Some biscuity feel creeps in toward the end but it isn’t strong enough to effect anything.
M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Slick, bitter feel that clings to the pallet throughout the experience.
O - This was my last beer at the festival and it was a pretty good way to end the day. It had good overall balance and

On Cask at Wetherspoon Stansted. Great combination of flavours. Aroma of wet leaves and citrus, with a hint of caramel. Taste is sweet, with sour and bitter notes. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Pale, with a frothy head.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
On cask at The Crystal Palace, Glasgow. Pours a golden colour with a lacy white head. Aroma of toffee apple, caramel, treacle and alcohol. Similar flavours. Very low carbonation and a mildly oily mouth-feel. Not the best.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in October 2011. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear very pale amber with a thin white head. Short yeasty dough and crisp green apple notes in the aroma. Thin mouthfeel and superb lacing. Pale malt base gives a slight digestive biscuit flavour with a subtle hint of ginger. Tart metallic tang of hop resins leads to a dusty, bitter aftertaste. Bitter sweet finish is poor with weak malt body lacking any conviction and complexity and tastes more like a weaker strength bitter of 3.8 - 4%. Disappointed.

Cask conditioned Handpump Saracens Head Daventry. A light golden coloured beer with a whitish head and lace. Apple and pineapple notes throughout. Astringent. Attempts at citrus gone a bit wrong. Not good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Golden coloured ale with a miminal head. Quite a hoppy beer, dominated by a fireyness to it, there’s better beers that I’d call firey though.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2012 Cask at Penderel’s Oak, JDW, London. Pours gold with a creamy, white head. Sugary biscuits and straw on the nose. Medium sweet flavor, lots of buttery diacetyl, bread, dough, light grain and straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Bit of sticky sugar in the finish, crunchy hay and straw, light dough. Nothing special.
