Clear dark brown color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, earthy. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, fruity, dark malt, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Cask at White Cross Beer festival 2014. Slight haze on copper ale with a decent cream head. Hoppy nose. Tangerine and sherbet. Bitter and biscuits. Lemon and grapefruit sting with dunked oaty biscuits. Finish is light but lasting. Good mild!

Keighley Beer Festival. Black, no head and mild in character. It’s aroma is light and has an easy to drink character.

Cask handpull at the Seven Stars, Bristol. Much enjoyed over a couple of nights in the city. Pours very dark brown with a fairly small tan coloured head. Dark roasted malt aroma with chocolate and dark fruits. Light-medium bodied with fine carbonation. A very good mild.

Dark chestnut brown with a good mocha head and decent lacing.
Nose comprises dark fruits, nuts and toffee.
Taste follows on but more caramel than toffee, slightly sweeter tones.
Medium bodied with minimal carbonation.

(draught) pours a pitch black colour with a creamy light brown head. aroma of heavy liquorice, light toffee and strawberries, with a hint of coffee beans. flavour is gummi bears, light toasted malts, shreddiesand a hint of dark chocolate in the semi-tart finish. light-bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask @ Nag Head. Pours dark brown with a small tanned head. Aroma is roasted malts, some dark fruits and fruity. Flavor is acidy, a bit roasted, sweet, fruity, malty and bitter. Finishes roasted and bitter. Thin body.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2013 Cask conditioned Handpump Malt Shovel Northampton. A very dark brown beer with a purple tinge and an off-white head and lacing. Sweet and plummy throughout. A really fruity mild which is tasty and likeable. Score 3.7
