COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
In the old brewery we had a problem with slugs getting into the brewery. As the beer leaves a trail down the glass as you drink it like a slug, that's how the beer was named. A delicious traditional porter with a full bodied taste of chocolate, coffee, blackcurrant and black cherry with a good aroma. A near black colour with a good white head when served through a tight sparkler.
Pale malt, crystal malt, black malt; Fuggles and Goldings hops.

Bottle at home. Deep dark brown colour, beige foamy head that quickly disappears. Unpleasant iron tone in the nose. Taste has milky coffee, chocolate and blackcurrant. A little bitter. Watery body, light mouthfeel, low carbonation. Not too memorable.

Cask gravity at the Watford beer festival 2014. Dark brown with ruby red highlights and a loose tan head. Aroma is dark jammy fruit, dark choc and sweet plum and fig. Flavour is strawberry and black berry jam, smooth dark choc, little bit of ash and wood. Lingering berry and chocolate malt. Palate is medium full, highish carbonation. Pretty smooth and tasty.

16.9 oz bottle at home from backlog notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have dark chocolate, dark fruit, berries, not very roasted, a hint of molasses, thinner than most, flavor was better than expected, mouthfeel fell short.

Cask@pretty brick, walsall. Dark brown beer with medium creamy head and good lacing. Aroma of cocoa, coffee and dark malts. Taste is mild chocolate, a hint of licorice, a touch of coffee and roasted malts. Creamy palate. Very good.

Honey and toffee aroma. Black colour with poor head. Thick toffee and coffee flavours up front with nutty dark chocolate finish. Heavy creamy body with low carbonation.

Cask. Looks very dark, with ruby tinges. A foamy beige head leaves a bit of lacing. Aromas of milk chocolate, hint of coffee, dark fruits. Taste- more chocolate and cocoa, dry roasty quality, liquorice, blackcurrant. Medium to full mouthfeel. Very nice.

Mild chocolatey aroma but a whopper of a chocolatey taste. Well rounded drink with a thick taste on the palate. Deep dark red porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draught at the Old Windmill, Coventry. This was the second time I’d tried this - I was really pleasantly surprised the first time, and this proved it was no fluke. Really good balance between the roasted malts, chocolate and bitterness. Almost black, oily body. Very good.
