Bockyhorsey (2481), Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 5, 2007 Bottle. Mutiple aromas hit the nose. Wood, realgood roasted nut and a sweet cherry aroma as well. Black body when held to light a nice mahagany red color witha decent head. Chocolate flavor was most dominant but blended in was a sweet fruit and roasted nuts. Smooth on the palate, an enjoyable brew. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 29, 2007 Pours very dark brown with a small amount of tan head. You really have to hold it close to light to see a ruby showing on the liquid. Mild coffee tones. You really have to pull at it to get something. Flavor is good. There are some richer characters here, but overall it seems a little bit thin and watery. What is there gives a nice malty flavor, but I feel like it could be (and should be for the price) thicker. Feel has a good carbonation to it, but just like the flavor, the liquid feel is too thin I say. Could stand to have more body. Overall a decent porter, but not really worth the price at all. Have had much better examples out there. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Sep 6, 2007 Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2007, London. Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, chocolate, coffe, berry (vanila / licorice). Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway Sep 3, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted, coffee. Flavour is roasted, coffee, hop. OK beer. kp (7774), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 11/09/2002

Black with ruby edges, big foaming tan head, light malt aroma, bland malty flavor, lots of carbonation, more roasted than chocolate, lots of malt bitterness, ground slugs?

more chocolate and less bitterness makes for a more drinkable beer, less slug, upgrade i to ii

GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Aug 24, 2007 Pours porter brown w/ a nice creamy, soap spattered froth. Good hangtime and has a nice creamy lace that persists. Aromas of bitter chocolate malts. Kinda thin for a porter w/ low volume effers. It’s almost creamy in a Tetleys or Boddingtons style. A pronounced hop bittering w/ very mild malts. It’s totally English. Old world flavors and textures. No fruit. Just bitter leather and cocoa w/ a watery blood stream. The fnish is bittered well and finishes dry. This would be great on tap or in a nitro can. Overall: this is a great brew. Very unlike other styles and is totally sesionable. Very thirst quenching. after4ever (2704), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 14, 2007 500. Pours deep, deep black with the faintest of red highlights at the thinnest part of the glass. Thick, sudsy, moussy tan head that leaves thick ropy webs of lace. Big chocolatey nose with a bit of chalky dryness there as well. Nice creamy medium body with light, soft carb. Chocolate starts on the attack, rolls through the mid-palate, joined by some roast and coffee. Kinda ashy on the finish. Not too bad. TomDecapolis (3122), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 8, 2007 Pours a deep brown bordering on black with a large creamy light tan head and spilled all over the table as my server poured it…oh well. Still left nice lacing and she didn’t spill all that much. Aroma of rich roasted malts, light smoke, some nuts, chocolate, hints of coffee. Flavor of light smoke, dark chocolate, some coffee, mixed nuts, touches of bitterness balanced nicely with the nice roasted malts. Went great with the chocolate crème brulee I got for dessert. Well done porter for sure!
