I’ll be sure to give this a fair sampling when it returns to Rich O’s. boto (1326), Granby, Connecticut, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 6, 2004 500ml bottle: This one pours a fairly opaque brown color. There was a bit of a tight, tan head to it. Some lacing down the glass. Some roastiness to the aroma. Maybe some subtle fruits in there also. The taste is mainly roastiness, with hints of chocolate. A decent porter. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 20, 2004 As far as porters go, this was average at best. Noticed a small trace of cherry, otherwise just a mellow, drinkable porter. Wish I had more to say, but I’m boring myself writing this much about this beer. MMM...Beer (385), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 13, 2004 Deep brown in color with an almost pure white head. Slight fruitiness on the nose and wonderful overtones of chocolate and coffee sits very well on the palate. Nice hoppy finish. Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 24, 2004 Bottled. Dark brown with a beige head. Roasted, ash aroma. Not as full of flavour as I was hoping. Coffee and mocha, dry and short. Consumed with great anticipation after suffering through cans of Jobn Smiths and pints of Fosters at the cricket at Lords. fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2004 Porter? Maybe it was the cask conditioning, but I rather doubt that would influence the nature of the beast. Old Slug’s a good name. Seemed more like an old ale to me and m’lady. Did enjoy. guzzler67 (1277), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 17, 2004 Cask conditioned. Chestnut brown with a large, off white head. Smoky, dark malt flavor with hints of coffee, chocolate and licorice in the aroma and taste. Medium-bodied with a soft, fruity side that was offset by the dry, slightly bitter finish. Enjoyable session beer. PorterPounder (3137), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Has a dark RC cola appearance with a thin off-white head. Faint aroma of caramel and chocolate. Just a tad too thin mouthfeel, does not ruin it though. Good bitter taste, faint chocolate notes and sweet cherries. Finishes strong. All in all, a good porter.
