| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 30, 2002 The glass I used may not have been rinsed thoroughly because I got a slight soapy taste in the beer. I’ve heard some beers referred to as being a little soapy, but no one else here has mentioned it and the guy I split the bottle with didn’t get it either. The head was out of control (again a unthoroughly rinsed glass could explain this as well) but it wasn’t much smaller on the glass I poured my friend. Nice roasty maltiness nothing really strong though and a little watery tasting. Nice smooth mouthfeel with some body to it. Beer is dark with blood/ruby highlights. Not bad, but I probably won’t be a regular drinker. TheBeerGod (3177), Newport News, Virginia, USA

Nose is roasted malts, light coffee, treacle, and chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, hints of molasses, light darker fruits, and light coffee. Very bitter coffee hop flavor, overall. Body is a bit thin. Light carbonation. Slick feeling in spots. Ends with more chocolate, dark fruits, light molasses and coffee. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Dark brown colour with malty head. Finally caught up with this one, dry bittering with roasted chocolate malts. A little too thin for me but I did get the fruits with a touch of Raspberry. Reasonable.
