Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
In the old brewery we had a problem with slugs getting into the brewery. As the beer leaves a trail down the glass as you drink it like a slug, that's how the beer was named. A delicious traditional porter with a full bodied taste of chocolate, coffee, blackcurrant and black cherry with a good aroma. A near black colour with a good white head when served through a tight sparkler.
Pale malt, crystal malt, black malt; Fuggles and Goldings hops.

Black/dark brown. Billowing tan head is dense, bubbly, rocky. Chocoffee, roasty malt, subtle dark fruits-aroma. Same flavor with a touch of yeast, also- very nice. Medium body, dry finish, nice carbonation, roasty and bitter chocoffee aftertaste. Hops allow themselves to be known in taste and aroma as it warms.

500 ml bottle. Almost black body with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate with a little hint of liquorices, very nice. Flavor is surprisingly mild, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Really nice sample of a well composed beer at only 4,5% ABV.

Cask at Banker’s, JDW, Bedford. Very dark brown with a lasting beige head. Malty aroma with some fruits. The taste also has some background fruit, but the dominant features are coffee and dark chocolate with a good bitter finish. Delicious, satisfying porter.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock Arms. A fine porter with all the roasty, chocolate and coffee notes you would hope for. Bitter finish adds some welcome balance. A fine drop of English.

Bottle. Dark brown with a huge tan head. Good roasted aroma with espresso, chocolate and sour fruit present. Mainly sweet, quite fruity flavours (mostly tart berries) with espresso appearing towards the finish. Could have had a bigger body. Highly enjoyable.

Bottle picked up at Sam’s. I thought this looked interesting. It was. It’s been a while since I’ve had a traditional english porter done well. This is just that. Easy drinking and loaded with flavor while remaining low in alcohol. Well balanced and tasty.

500 ml bottle, via Secret Santa PhillyBeer2112. Pours a clear dark brown with a small creamy light brown head. Not much in the way of visible carbonation. Aroma is very chocolaty and dry with a light roasted barley note. Flavor is very chocolaty with a light dry chalkiness and a bit of roast. Finish is dry and lightly bitter. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. I thought that this was a great English-style Porter. Really surprised at the relatively low overall rating. I think that this is really worth seeking out.
