COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
The name comes from the Pitchfork rebellion of 1685 the last battle to be fought on English soil of the Civil War. A golden bitter with floral citric hop aroma. It has a hoppy predominate taste which is slightly sweet and fruity and leaves you wanting more.
Pitchfork was judged to be the Best Bitter of the Year in 1998 at the Great British Beer Festival and has been a finalist in the last three years.
Pale malt; Fuggles and Goldings hops.

Decent, but not overbearing, kind of a textbook example of the style. Got some ripe green apple skins in the nose, some grassy hoppiness. As you can imagine a mouthfeel that is slightly bitter, bready maltiness, but the finish just drops right off into nothing.

Cask at Helsinki Beer Festival 2008. Deep golden color with small head. Honey and green apple in the aroma.Toasty, nutty, biscuity and appley flavor. Bitter, biscuity and appley finish. I like this beer in the bottle, but now it was in bad condition.

Bottle. Hazy golden with a rocky white head. Potent piney hops aroma. Extremely bitter flavours with a punch of pine flavours. A bitter that proves its point.

Exuberant head to say the least, coated the side of the glass and left a nice lacing. Great cloudy orange color. Near perfect hops character. Nice and bitter, but not overwhelming in the least. Very nice bitter beer.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2008 500 ml. Deep golden and hazy with lots of little floaties. Four-finger meringue head leaves lots of nice creamy lace. Bittersweet fresh herb and grain aroma. Initial tastes are of one of the most balanced beers ever. Grain and dry lemongrass on the front, with a slow fade to slight honey and resin on the finish. Resin and lemongrass become more prominent as I delve deeper. Smooth, light-medium body leans to the dry side. Mixing this beer with Old Slug creates a beer that is better than the sum of its parts.

Cask at the White Horse, 9th March 2008. Clear amber appearance with a hoppy, appley aroma. Very dry and hoppy flavour with a crisp and refreshing taste.

The aroma is just toasted grains and yeast. The appearance is amber with a nice foamy head. The flavor is bitter and grainy with cardboard. The palate is average. Wow this is really disappointing.

Aroma is..... nonexistent. Maybe yeast. Very thick bubbly head. Cloudy amber in color, sharp on the palate. Flavor is bitter with citrus and mild hops. Definitely a bitter. Hope it’s better next time.
